Aquaman & Aqualad Vs. Galactus

It will be interesting to see what elements are added to Aquaman's movie world once the sequel gets up and running.  Black Manta, Mera and Orm are all slated to reappear, but will we see Garth or Calder in the mix?  What about Dolphin?  Are there any big Aquaman villains we haven't seen yet?  The Fisherman never seemed that impressive to me, maybe The Shark?

Strangely enough I can see the Inferior Five driving off Galactus ("These buffoons daring to attack my person? They could only be a diversion for a greater defense. Weakened as I am, I am unable a formidable defense of my own and must withdraw for the nonce until my strength has returned sufficiently.") before Aquas Man and Lad could ever hope to.

I don't know if Trubel shows up in the Grimm comic books but a good team up would be between her and Faith from Buffy.

Not a good story idea, Ross. This duo wouldn't be able to do anything that I could think of to affect the big G. At least with the Atom, Ray could try to shrink Galactus to see if that would help. Somebody suggested sending Galactus to the Phantom Zone. That has some possibilities for a different kind of story.

Vassa the Mermaid Queen was always my favorite of Aquaman's Filmation foes.

As to Aquaman being too weak to drive off Galactus? That would be true if he tried to sate Big G's hunger with mere electric fish! But, perhaps, if he consulted Wonder Woman about the location of Medusa's head...

In most Galactus stories I can think of, none of the superheroes can do anything to "affect the big G" anyway. There always has to be some sort of end run.

@MHS: It so happens that what you say is literally true, at least for STF. The I5 faced Galactus back in Issue #2612.

@Ross: There aren't many covers that you've done showing Galactus going for any planet other than Earth. He's gone for Rann, Qward, and some place within Space Ghost's purview; how about Mogo? With the planets he's gone to where the residents fought back, this would be a case where the planet itself mounted its own defense!

Other possible planets for him to look to (in alphabetical order): Amzot, Bajor, Barsoom, Coruscan, Cybertron, Gallifrey, Mongo, Ork, or Thanagar! (I'd be especially interested in Amzot or Ork.)

If he really must attack Earth, though, maybe the Men in Black could take a hand. They deal with this Earth-in-danger stuff every other Tuesday.

Regarding the Aquaman sequel, I think we may at least get Garth. If the name of Donna Troy is mentioned in Wonder Woman 1984, you can bank on it. Then maybe Wally West in The Flash, and all we'll need is Dick Grayson and maybe either Conner or Jonathan Kent.

@TJS: I never used the word "affect." As to end runs? Being petrified a la the Kraken, in the original CLASH OF THE TITANS, indisputably qualifies as one.

Now you're cooking. What are some ways that could really affect Galactus?
*Medusa's head
*sent to Phantom Zone
*magic ?? read Bat-Mite, Mr Mxyzptlk, etc
*Cloak ?
*Reverse Flash ?
*Anti-Monitor?

Duplicate Boy of Lallor could time travel from the 31st century and take on Galactus using the combined powers of Colossal Boy, Sun Boy, and Matter-Eater Lad.

Sun Boy = luring Galactus into a trap.

Colossal Boy = matching size.

Matter-Eater Lad = fighting digestion with digestion.

Or, failing that, I'd settle for Deadpool and the Lunatic Fringe planting a giant sticky note on Galactus' back that reads: "BLACK RACER IS A WUSS!"

Carycomic said...

@Anonymous: STF #1985 shows that Colossal Boy can only grow half as tall as Galactus. So equal height could only be achieved if Duplicate Boy also copied Princess Projectra's power of super-illusion-casting. Maybe even enhanced by using Chameleon Boy's shape-changing power to assume the guise of Mordru!

In the case for the Fisherman, didn't DC at one stage go with the "alien hat-shaped parasite, controlling a series of human victims" idea?

He was responding to someone else.

P.S. @ Fisher: The Spectre vs. Galactus was already done @ STF #1297. While Galactus vs. the Anti-Monitor was already done @ STF #1845.

@cgl66: So he was. Thanks!

@Carycomic: Black Racer it is, then.

@Bob Greenwade: Would Ork send the Orkin, I mean, Orkan army? LOL! XD!

Thank goodness Aquaman and Aqualad can call on Topo the octopus for help....

Anonymous said...

@Sonofjack: actually, that's not a bad idea! Topo could (inadvertently) serve as an avatar for...SHUMA-GORATH!

Failing that, maybe Chthulu? Either way, Galactus would have quite a fight on his hands.

The Man in Black said...

The Shark was more of a Green Lantern villain IIRC.

Suggestions: Aquaman vs. Tigershark

Carycomic said...

Or Aquaman vs. Killer Shark (formerly a Blackhawk villain).

I wonder how these two would fare against the Death-dealer from the Depths?
