Storm and Halo

I still remember when Alan Davis took over the art chores on Batman and the Outsiders.  At first I was not happy to see my favorite artist, Jim Aparo, be replaced, but I soon began to really appreciate Davis' unique style.  When he went over to Marvel to work on the X-Titles, he really began to blow up in popularity, and deservedly so.  My favorite works by him are the two JLA: The Nail mini-series, just spectacular work there.

I agree about Aparo. But, who's Horde?

(Yay! Now I really am first in line!)

He was kind of like the Marvel version of Mongul.

The other Davis work I really enjoyed was Superboy's Legion.

Since Mogul is just a reskinned version of Darkseid wouldn't that make Horde the Marvel version of Thanos? :)

@Kid Kyoto: Actually, Mongul's skin is more of a chalky yellowish-white. It's Trigon (Raven's father and the DC version of Dormammu) who's red-skinned.

Ditto on The Nail and Superboy's Legion. Always liked his version of Killraven, also.

Later on when he was mostly doing only covers, he was the one I was most disappointed when the interior art was somebody else.

Sign me up under J.J. Couldn't agree more.

Ross, how would you team up Daredevil + Deadman?

Will some critics of Time's Man of the year Greta Thunberg intentionally spell her last name "Punberg", based on a Mediaeval Germanic orthography ("th" used to be spelled with the letter "thorn", which resembled the letter "p" and was used in (early) Roman letter Mediaeval Germanic languages)?

HHH, how about Superman and Krypto meeting Wallace and Grommit.

@Anon309: so HALLOWEEN 6 was almost subtitled "The Curse of Porn?"

Carycomic said...

Instead of "The Curse of Thorn?"

Thanks, Anon. But, I've already erased the doop.
