Daredevil and Wildcat

I'm hoping that Wildcat makes the cut when the JSA are introduced either in the  Black Adam movie or the Stargirl streaming series.  Yes, there was a younger version of Wildcat in a couple of episodes of Arrow, but he was never even seen in costume, so he never did the classic hero justice (although I did love that Ollie used a makeshift boxing glove arrow against him at one point).  Let's see Ted Grant in his full hero-training, crime-busting glory!

Wildcat and Daredevil first met way back in STF #83...

Does DD still have his radar sense? And does Ted still have multi lives?
The inmates may have a small chance if they're very lucky.

Nice retro effect. Have you ever matched Mickey Mouse and Jerry (of Tom and Jerry)? I couldn’t see it in the labels.

Then you have answered your own question.

These two would be a natural for a real-world publication crossover adventure. Preferably, with the Golden Age Daredevil as a special guest-star (courtesy of either his AC incarnations)!*

I mean, let's face it. GADD had his own version of the Newsboy Legion called the Little Tough Guys. And the future "Battling Jack" Murdock could have been one of them. One day, GADD introduces him to Ted Grant (after the former aids Wildcat in some gangland-style case).

The rest is history.

*How cool would it be to see "Marvel, DC, and AC Present..."?

Funny thing: the guy kicking Wildcat in the gut is probably just a common thug in the original art, but he does look an awful lot like the Absorbing Man. That could make things a bit of a challenge for the heroes.

I don't remember the boxing glove arrow, makeshift or otherwise, ever appearing on Arrow. Could someone please hunt that down and tell me which episode it's from, specifically?

It's still possible that J. R. Ramirez might suit up as Wildcat in some future scene. If it's not in Part 5 of Crisis on Infinite Earths, he could show up as an Earth-3 version. (I personally have wanted for a while now to see him and John Wesley Shipp's Jay Garrick accompanied by Jamey Sheridan as Green Arrow and Alex Kingston as Black Canary!)

But yeah -- I think it'd be appropriate for the character to appear on Stargirl. There's no hint of him for Season 1, but there's still Season 2.

Back to the Absorbing Man: thinking of how he was handled on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., as a former criminal turned ally, made me think of how the comics pages of the Big Two have shown that with at least one from each of those universes: Sandman, as explored already on this blog, and the Riddler, who spent a period of time as a (so far as I know) law-abiding private investigator. Maybe on Earth-STF, they could go into business together.

Both heroes are so out of place on the high seas that I needed to see where the background game from. Leaving Aparo's signature in made it easy -- it pretty much had to be Brave and Bold cover, with Batman instead of DD, of course. Nice switch to the cloudy background to handle the smaller and red DD figure, Ross.

A natural pairing given their boxing background.

Thanks, Ross! Now all I need from that show is Oliver with that crazy curl-tipped goatee, and I can leave it in peace.

Re: Cary's Daredevil idea: If you put Wildcat together with the Golden Age Daredevil, then it would be an AC/DC crossover. Recolor the latter's costume to match the former, and you could call it "Back, in Black!"

Waitaminnit: I just looked, and AC doesn't have any connection to the Golden Age Daredevil (that I can find).

Well, the basic suggestion stands; you'll just (apparently) have to do it with a different hero, if you go with it.

Go back to the early issues of FEMFORCE, Bob. He was one of many Golden Age public domain heroes revived from Dr. Weir's vault during the first multi-issue epic involving the Black Shroud. Although, there, he's called "Reddevil." There's another version, published by Dynamite Entertainment, called "Death-defyin'devil." But, that one has been ret-conned as a mystically sentient costume!

Ah! Thanks for the clarification/correction, Anon. (I was relying on the Wikipedia article, which is a tad sketchy.)
