Aquaman and Storm Vs. Sharknado

I remember when everyone started talking about the first Sharknado, and being amused by it.  I didn't understand why such a fuss was made though, as the SYFY channel had been cranking out these monster schlock movies for a while.  My favorite is still the legendary Mega Shark Vs. Giant Octopus!

Thank you to Jonathan Woodward, a Patron of this blog, for suggesting this wild match up!

Aquaman and Storm first met in STF #2186...

Personally, I didn't think the first Sharknado movie was good enough to even warrant one sequel. Let alone, four or five!

Maybe this is ex-GL foe, The Shark, trying to get revenge on Storm for her part in bringing down the Secret Society of Super-Villains.

@Anonymous: so, blaming her for half a dozen schlocky fish flicks is yet another social problem we can use mutants as a scapegoat for?

On an American Dad episode "Blonde Ambition", Stan and Steve use an explosion to scare away guard dogs at a housing they were touring, riding a hot tub that the explosion blew, but the guard dog were also blown and were behind the tub, in a WILD mood!.

Neat job. Does anyone else think Aq's uniform is a fashion disaster? Amongst the really great, A grade Superhero costumes (Silver Age Flash and GL) the most I'd give Aq's is C minus. Why is the ruler of Atlantis still in this uninspired outfit.

Talking about rulers of Atlantis, Ross, when are Namor and Aquaman going to tangle again? Given the many unknown family connections you've revealed is it possible that the two are really twins separated at birth? (Obviously Subby dyes his hair.)

"Wild" is an understatement. This is delightfully insane! Thank you from me too, Jonathan -- it's brilliant!

It helps a lot that the cover is so seamlessly done -- it looks like it could be an actual comic, and I sort of wish it was. Three-way crossovers just boggle the mind.

I could even see it as an actual Syfy movie with Jason Momoa (who would totally embrace the Sharknado franchise's tongue-in-cheek attitude) and Alexandra Shipp (maybe Halle Berry, whom I adore in the role no less, but Alex just seems more appropriate somehow).

Aside: Someone's suggested that certain elements in the Arrowverse Crisis on Infinite Earths are laying groundwork for a future crossover with the MCU. I'm a skeptically hopeful about that, but a "Crisis on Infinite Earths Invades the Marvel Universe" cover might be a fun project -- maybe for a Giant-Size Special.

"I'm gonna toss my cookies!" "Already did!!"

Not a fan of the subject or sequels(?) . Remember a variety of uniforms worn by Arthur over the years. This orange and green, without fish hook- hand replacement, can be done very nicely by many artists.

@Davejonz: the bare chest and the grappling hook-trident-thingie were undeniably bigger disasters. IN preference to that, I'll take him wearing the orange-and-green outfit, anyday!

Is that shadow on the top shark Arthur Fonzarelli and a bike?

Storm's rising. Full moon. This is what she wanted to try since they were kids in STF # 2186: Fish soup. Wait till he tries her next course.

Happy Holidays to all and a merrier turn of the world for future sake.

@Davejonz you want something diff? Picture the Sea King in a Mohawk.

Carycomic said...

@Hyram: no-no-no-no-no! You're thinking of his and Storm's alternate-future son. Tom Mamoa Curry. As in...

"Our son'll be named Tom Mamoa! Tom Mamoa! Bet your bottom dollar that Tom Mamoa...will hate 'Annie.' "

@Bob Greenwade: How about Halle Berry's Catwoman marrying John Wesley Shipp's Flash and thereby giving birth to a daughter who grows up to be Alexandra Shipp? Alias...

...Janie Quick!

@Carycomic, how come no body ever talks about their future granddaughter, Meta Jean?

Bob Greenwade said...

I could deal with a photo cover of John (in either Flash guise, but preferably Jay Garrick) and Alex, just to have fun with the name similarity. Maybe Storm finds evidence that Jay's her father?

But really, the main "offspring" link I'd like to see would be Captain America and Wonder Woman having a daughter: American Maid!

(Unless it's Luke Skywalker telling the DCAU Joker: "I am your father!")

Anonymous said...

@Hyram: Probably because her grandparents were actually Ororo Monroe and the FF's Human Torch. Who had the cruel nerve to name their only daughter (Meta Jean's mother)...Storm Storm!

@Bob Greenwade: Only to add a second later; "Just kidding!"

Re Aquaman's costume: Remembering the limited extent to which light penetrates underwater, the colours wouldn't really be as apparent there anyway...

... which is one of my (scientists's) gripes about how the comics depict their versions of sunken Atlantis [etc.], and outsiders' reactions when visiting, anyway...

det_Tobor said...

@Simreeve, luminescence helps for wanted light. But a dr doing an operation is going to need some kind of air pocket or pocket of sterilized water.

Doesn't Aquaman (& the Atlanteans) believe in Poseidon & his realm rather than Heaven? It seems out of character for him as he never mentioned Heaven in any of the comics that I owned with him (& I owned alot!).

Carycomic said...

@Anon554: that's more likely the Silver Age Shark (from SSOV).

Carycomic said...

@Anon1200: Namor and his Atlanteans do. But, Aquaman was partially raised by his lighthouse-keeping father, Tom Curry (who was probably some nominal form of Christian).

Sharks. Always sharks. How come there's never a Walrusnado?

It was suggested to Syfy Channel's programming director as a spin-off pilot. But, he didn't think it would get off the ground.

@Carycomic Aquaman has always said "Great Poseidon" rather than ""Good God" or "Jesus Christ". Just like Wonder Woman always said "Great Hera" or "Great Zeus".

Neither of them ever said God, Jesus, Christ or anything of Christianity. Just like the Spectre never said "Great Poseidon" or Great Hera" in any of his adventures.

The Heaven in Aquaman's word balloon stills seems off to me character wise.

The Halliwells in CHARMED: TOS were neo-Wiccans. But, they still occasionally thanked God whenever one of their risky plans to beat the Big Bad-of-the-Week paid off.

Nobody ever carped about that being out of character.

I have to agree with Cary on this one.
