The Avengers Vs. The Secret Society of Super-Villains in: "The One That Got Away!"

I loved team comics when I was a kid, and Justice League of America was my favorite.  My favorite issues of those were the yearly JLA/JSA team-ups, and my favorites of those was the three part tale where both teams tackle a Secret Society made up of Super-Villains from Earth One and Earth Two.  I was the perfect age for it and George Perez made everyone look great (I'm sure most will recognize his part of this cover).  It made me a fan of villains that I had never paid much attention to before like Ragdoll, Signal Man and especially the Psycho-Pirate.

These two teams first clashed back in STF #312...

Oh the quality of years gone by. Now, Ragdoll has been on the Flash, Psycho Pirate is elseworld, The Wasp was upwind of Cheetah, Frost has changed, The Earth 2 Wizard got rid of Superman for years, The Clock King and Chronos have yet to work together, The Mist has killed Mr terrific aboard the JLA satellite, No Luthor or Brainiac or Grodd here, And here we go again.
Joker has answered why heroes shouldn't kill- because of unexpected complications like you could never guess. Superman has said because they are "needed" to keep the good guys sharp mentally and not act as a body weight at a hero's feet.
Not sure who the guy in the blue black cape is, but he looks like a Perez work.

Nice bit of design and casting Ross.

That's the Monocle.

as in...In September 2011, The New 52 rebooted DC's continuity. In this new timeline, Monocle is reintroduced in the Forever Evil storyline where he thinks that the Crime Syndicate of America is actually the Justice League in disguise where they are tricking the villains. Monocle ends up killed by Ultraman's heat vision.

The Mist didn't kill Mr Terrific. Mr Terrific was killed by the Spirit King.

Hey, here's a fun fact about old Felix the Cat;
Feline Follies is an 1919 animated short film, distributed by Paramount Pictures. It marked the first appearance of the character Felix the Cat.

Contents. Plot Edit
Master Tom (Felix), a male black cat, meets a female white cat. He serenades his new love interest, and announces his intention to devote his nine lives to her. Tom's singing wakes up an entire neighborhood. [1]

Tom later finds out that his love interest is the mother of a large litter of kittens. In reaction, Tom runs towards the local gasworks. Tom commits suicide by intentionally inhaling natural gas.

No wonder he developed such a bag of tricks. What an origin.

You used the Debra Domain Cheetah? Yes! :-D

I much prefer her to Barbara Ann Minerva. In fact, might I suggest pitting DDC against Josie and the Pussycats? With the latter as kidnapped hostages of the former. And with Patsy "Hellcat" Walker as the one coming to their rescue!

If, however, you must use BAM, why not depict a cat-fight between her and Tigra (nee Greer Grant)?

I prefer the first suggestion. If for no other reason than Ross could do it as a sequel to STF #1916!

I had that same Earth 1/2 villain comic --- think I bought it on a family vacation to the beach. Didn't know my way around DC comics at all, but found the villains very interesting. Was the Ultra-Humanite behind it all, or am I confusing two comics?

Thank you! A great team-up not just of heroes / villains, but also artists. I'm the right age (yes, I had the JLA comic) to remember when Perez and Byrne were just killing it every month on team books, so love seeing their work together like this.

Will the Felix cover also feature Mickey Mouse and Oswald Rabbit, two characters who ripped off Felix the Cat's design?

Hell yeah! Zoo Crew, Howard the Duck, all the animals and Anti- Monitor, looming over it all. It may be Felix's last time reaching into his bag of tricks, a look of dismay on him.

The Tale's end? The Tail's end? both work. xD

Maybe Felix needs a new Tail-or. me-ow!

What about Felix, Betty Boop and Death of the Endless in glorious black and white?

WONDERFUL!
(And now I have another place to check regularly...)

Yes, he was. He told the assembled villains that there was a 50% chance this would get rid of E-1's heroes and a 50% chance that it would get rid of E-2's heroes instead... but he had secretly rigged things so that it was 100% for E-2's...
This led indirectly into his appearance in an early issue of 'Infinity Inc', and to the Infinty/All-Stars crossover.

I beg to differ Ross, the absolute BEST JLA/JSA team-up was the one guest starring the All Star Squadron when the went up against the Per Degaton. That was a 5 part multi-title saga that lasted the whole Summer!! And I was livid cuz i wasnt around to buy parts 3 and 4 cuz my family traveled to Belgium that summer!! I was a real brat on that trip!! Ha ha!

For me, the indisputably greatest JLA/JSA team-up of all time was the one that reintroduced the Seven Soldiers of Victory. With the re-introductions of the Freedom Fighters (from Quality Comics) and the Squadron of Justice (from Fawcett Comics) tying for second place.
