Black Cat Vs. Catwoman in: "Tailing Selina!"

Selina Kyle has sported more different looks than most villains over the years,  but part of me will always miss the classic costume she wore above.  It's elegant while utilizing the popular villain color scheme of purple and green.  Plus, with apologies to Edna Mode, I love capes!

The modern day Catwoman and Black Cat shared a two-part adventure that began in STF #423 and concluded in STF #424...

BTW, the Black Cat of this cover is a creation of Harvey Comics (yes, the same one that's more famous for Casper the Friendly Ghost, Richie Rich, etc.). She predated its more well-known characters.

I Like this. Have you ever put together (or if not then considered putting together) as many of the cat characters as possible? I say it like that because I am not sure just exactly how many there are. Those that come to mind are these two on today's cover and, as you named them, their modern day counterparts. Then there is Tigra, Cheetah, and Hellcat. No doubt I am skipping someone.

On a different note, I once thought about this: Superman, Captain Kirk & Mr. Fantastic vs. Mr. Mxyzptlk, the Impossible Man & Harry Mudd.

Dear Ross: Weren't these two and Tigra members of your Feline Force some two hundred issues back?

Very nice!

But I still want to see this Black cat meet one version or another of the Black Canary...

I've done Chewbacca and the Fur Force which featured Tigra and Cat Precinct featuring cartoon cats, but no Feline Force

I can see this being a 2 parter- say with part 2 being a team up with GA Batman, and Selina explaining to the Black Cat she was targeting her ex-husband

I too would like to see a "Feline Force". :)

I could be wrong. But, Anonymous might be thinking of "The Black Beauties" from STF #299.

Speaking of Edna Mode (who has yet to grace this blog), I wonder if she might not be the reason for Wesley Dodds ditching his cape for a trenchcoat.

It'll be a bit hard to take any Black Cat story too seriously now, after the MST3K comic.

+1 for the Cat and the Canary
+1 for Edna Mode on the blog

@Kevin Atchison: Why? Were they making (highly deserved) fun of the 2004 Catwoman flick with Halley Berry?

Carycomic said...

That'd be my guess.

No, the comic sees the characters inserted into public domain comics, so Jonah is Black Cat's sidekick, Crow becomes a Crypt Keeper type narrator for Horrific and Johnny Jason, Teen Reporter is replaced by Tom Servo.

@Carycomic: Yep! That's exactly the super-group I was half-remembering. Thanks for the clarification.

P.S.---Was Tom Servo the talking gumball machine?
