Thor and Starman
DC is all about legacy characters and Starman is one of the best. I love how varied each of his incarnations have been, whether related to the original Ted Knight or not. James Robinson did an amazing job at weaving all of the different characters to wear the mantle together in his classic 90's series, and the legacy aspect of the hero is stronger than ever because of that. Stargirl currently wields the cosmic power, and will hopefully be part of a new Justice Society soon.

Awesome! Robinson's Starman was an amazing, incredible book. I still have an extra copy of both the Talking With David and Tales of Times Past issues. I think my favorite moment is the third Talking With David, where Jack's brother gathered a number of dead heroes including an obnoxious Red Bee. The Red Bee's "confession" as to why he was so ornery was such a cool moment. Another moment was when Jack gathered a bunch of heroes to take a fantastic voyage inside Solomon Grundy. Batman, Alan Scott, the Floronic Man. Jack asked what their favorite Woody Allen movie was. Batman's final answer was pretty cool.
Is this one of those instances where the Cosmic Rod was Starman's version of a GL power ring? If so, he must be utterly convinced he's doing the right thing. Because I believe the usual Silver Age cop-out for someone else being able to lift Mjolnir was "only someone as worthy as Thor, himself, may do so."
Personally, I'm looking forward to a Red Norvell/Mikaal Tomas teamup, a Beta Ray Bill/Prince Gavyn teamup, an Eric Masterson/Jack Knight teamup, a Dargo Ktor/Thom Kallor teamup, and a Jane Foster/Stargirl teamup. I love your site!
Personally, I'd rather see Bill "Black Goliath" Foster marry Thor's ex-girlfriend Jane. With the two of them adopting shrunken Silver Age Teen Titans in a cover entitled..."The Foster Kids."
Thanks, Gary!
@ Gary a - Whatta concept! :-)
Starmen vs. The Thor Corps?
Yeah, I can get behind that.
I'm still hoping for a JLA/JSA style team up with Roger Hargreaves' Mr. Men.
How about Martin Mystery vs. the Malibu Men In Black (as a mistaken identity slugfest)?
