Let me be the first one to--officially--congratulate on this landmark issue. And, you're right: an all-robot team does sound kind of fun. But, as the LOST IN SPACE robot seems to have been left out, I can't help feeling that his reply to your statement might be a very spiteful:
"Fun?! That does not compute."
I think "Robo Force" was the name of a toyline that was out for a few months when I was a little kid... blocking robot action figures with suction pads on their base, if I remember correctly.
I love the composition of this cover. And, looking at that Kirby image in the foreground, it suddenly struck me that Machine Man never looks right when drawn by someone other than Kirby. Somehow, other artists always made him look boring and generic.
jrp04f: You are correct, at least if you were "a little kid" in 1984. According to the Wikipedia entry, ROBO Force even had a revival a couple of years ago.
That said... Ross, you've made this into an epic story that yearns to be told -- if only the IPR negotiations weren't such a potential nightmare.
Reminds me of my old idea for a re-imagining of the Metal Men, with Viridium (I may be the only person who liked the "Doc as a Metal Man" era), Platinum, Mercury, and Tin from the old team, paired up with Steel (John Henry Irons), Steel (Hank Heywood), Cliff Steele (Robotman), and Red Tornado.
I wonder how this team would fair against Brainiac.

Never mind Brainiac; how would they do teaming up with (or, in a misunderstanding, going up against) Magnus, Robot Fighter?!?
