It was always funny watching The Man From Atlantis. I think Aquaman has been an under-rated opportunity. I seem to remember that Aquaman and The Martian Manhunter were the ones that helped beat the Crime Syndicate.
First of all, "Waterworld" - like "John Carter" - does not deserve its reputation as a bomb; it is in fact one of my favorite movies. And secondly, while the upcoming "Aquaman" film may be the first cinematic take on the hero, there was an excellent "Aquaman" TV pilot produced by the team responsible for "Smallville" that should have become a series.
@John Small: You're absolutely right. And the Aquaman pilot can be found on YouTube, for a $1.99 charge.
The question is: will Marvel Films ever do a Submariner flick? I can't exactly picture Patrick Duffy with Mr. Spock ears.
Patrick Duffy is too old now although he might be close to Namor's real age.
The Aquaman underwater segment of Justice League was great.
@John Small: you're half-right. JOHN CARTER was ten times _better_ than WATERWORLD.
