The X-Files in The House of Mystery

The X-Files is set to return to TV next January, and despite the wonky final seasons of the series and the movies that followed, I have to admit I'll be tuning in to see what Mulder and Scully are up to.  I was hoping that The House of Mystery would be getting a little more TV exposure, but that does not seem likely with the cancellation of Constantine.  There is talk of the show moving to a different network or its characters showing up on Arrow, so maybe there's still a glimmer of hope.

I'm not sure how I feel about The X-Files coming back. I watched the show for a few seasons, read a few novelizations and the comic book. I did not see the last few seasons when, apparently, nobody was getting along. The films, like the ST: Next Generation films seemed anti-climactic. This feels like a reunion min-series. Maybe I'll check it out just to see how old friends are doing...

I'm eager for a revival of THE X-FILES on TV. I'm already reading the "10th Season" comic book spin-offs. But, I would like a script-reason--televised in-story explanation--of why the 2012 alien invasion ("predicted" on the 1st series finale) failed to materialize.*

*An explanation that I hope will be more quickly forthcoming than the one Syfy Channel has yet to provide for not showing an X-FILES marathon back on 12/21/2012.

Now this is a crossover, I would like to see. I'd want Scully and Mulder to have to arrest Cain a few dozen times for his few dozen murders of Abel.

The one thing that bothers me about the X-Files return is that, according to reports, the Cigarette-Smoking Man is back. The last we saw of him, he was directly hit by a Stinger missile just as it exploded and took out a cliffside.

The only explanation I can think of is relevant to the episode "Tithonus" (S6E10).

Either that, Bob, or he's gonna start competing with Duncan McLeod to be the One.

Actually I was thinking that he might have some Murdoc or Harkness in his family tree....
