Doctor Doom and Darth Vader

I always felt that Darth Vader had to be inspired at least a little bit by Doctor Doom.  The mask hiding a scarred face, the cape, the power and attitude... there is definitely a connection between these two.  It's too bad that we can't seem to get a proper Doctor Doom on the big screen.

Not everyone will understand what this means, but "Wolves of the Calla!"

One of your best!

The only thing that would make this better is if the two of them teamed up with Baron Karza from the Micronauts!

Like Doom would lower himself to work for Vader ;)

Here's an idea for a team-up. two lesser known characters but they would be crazy together.

Marvels Madcap and DC's Ambush-bug.

In Stephen King's "Wolves of the Calla", a fictional town is attacked by androids who are wearing the clothes of DR Doom, and they are all carrying light sabers!

This issue of Super Team Family fits perfectly! Ross, have you read it?

I agree with the earlier post. Doom would never work for anyone. That said, it was a great pic. As for other team- ups, how about 4 martial artists? Kato, Shang-Chi, Kwai Chang Caine, and Liu Kang.

@ A. Clay Campbell, Esq. and mxty:

Doc Doom would more likely be duping Vader, until the opportunity arose to pull the aforementioned Ovoid body-swapping trick. Think about it! Doom, using Vader's body to gain access to the plans for Death Star II?

Place "shudder" icon here.

Maybe the indelible impact of Vader on movies is what keeps a decent Doom off the radar. Creators might not want to character to seem too much like Vader and so drag him too far away from his core.

I agree that Doc Doom had to be in the mind of someone (Lucas, I'm talking to you amigh!) when Darth Vader was dreamed up.

Great stuff as always!

If I'm not mistaken the AVENGERS cartoon from a few years ago had it so Kang the Conqueror had a Vader-esque mini-console on his chest, too.

Doombots? They're programmed to believe they are the real Doom, until they are in his presence. But Vader must have the Force cranked up all the way to bend them to his will.

@ Ken Roskos:

The only Force adept in the SWEU ever depicted as having control over droids was Irek Ismaren. And, even then, he required a neurosurgically implanted microchip in his brain.

Exactly - Doom plays second fiddle to no one!

George Lucas said in an interview after the first Star Wars film in 1977, that Darth Vader was partly inspired by Doctor Doom. I would call it a near total rip-off myself.
