Green Lantern Vs. The Silver Surfer

The greatest weapon in the universe up against the power cosmic... which side would prevail in such a clash?  I suspect that it is a conflict that would quickly escalate, as each would underestimate the other at first.  As for who would ultimately triumph, it might come down to who can last the longest in battle.  Despite the great will of Hal Jordan, that might give the Surfer the edge, as his power has no time limit.

Of course, you realize there *was* a crossover with Green Lantern (although it was Kyle Rayner, a character I was fine with but others disagreed) in the story.

Sorry, I should also point out that I *LOVE* this site and the great artwork that's produced and shared here.

Yup, I have that one in my collection... I wanted to see Hal and SS though...

Thanks for visiting the blog!

Yes, there was a crossover with Kyle Rayner's GL and the Surfer...although Hal Jordan was in there as well (as Parallax). It also had Thanos in there, a great crossover.

Hi Ross,

Just discovered your blog, sir - excellent stuff!

I was (and am) a big fan of 'The Brave & The Bold', and was disappointed when it was cancelled. It would have been great to see the stories suggested by your covers brought to the page (especially by Aparo)...

I'm going to start reading from the beginning - I should be up to date by February unless there's another Xylak invasion (don't ask)...

Nice job on this one, good to have a 'classic' take on that Ron Marz story.

I have an idea for the blog come the start of the new year--a whole month of theme covers, with the theme being 'east meets west': western comic book characters teaming up with, or fighting against, anime/manga characters. Best part is, anime/manga are mostly closely linked that it'll be easy to find comic based images of certain characters.

Some possible ideas I have:
-Wonder Woman/Knights of the Zodiac, due to the shared Greek mythology background.
-Doctor Fate/Yu-Gi-Oh!, due to the Ancient Egypt connection.
-Dick Tracy/Detective Conan of 'Case Closed', since they're, well, detectives.
-The Vision/Astro Boy, as both are androids.
-The X-Men/Cyborg 009, as they're both groups of misfits that occasionally fight shadowy organizations (the Purifiers/Black Ghost).
-Star Trek/Star Blazers

Just my two cents.

Honestly, would anyone really miss Oa?

Ah! But, if this is Silver Age GL Hal Jordan, then he would probably realize that the Surfer could out-last him, time-wise. So, he would probably do something totally unexpected. Like call on GL Mogo, for assistance!

Good Point, Anonymous! Never count out Hal!

Acer - I have to admit I am not a big expert on Anime characters, but I will try to include some in the future. Akira is scheduled for an upcoming appearance, and you make some cool suggestions there.

@Ross
That, my friend, is what the internet--especially Wikipedia--is for.

Ross,
I posted the first two comments on this thread and just had to come back to say: With all due respect to Mr. Acer, I do NOT love that idea and would not want to see a whole month devoted to what I suspect would be a theme appreciated by only a fringe of the fandom that regularly follows your work. Also, one of the fun parts of following the blog is the aspect of "What the heck is he going to get up to *today*?" The answer you gave seems to agree with that but I just wanted to support what sounds like is already your position.
