Green Arrow Vs. The Hulk

The CW's Arrow is an entertaining take on the Emerald Archer.  While is it not a direct adaptation - characters have been added to the mythos and others altered quite a bit - it still remembers its comic book roots and each episode gives us plenty of Easter eggs and nods to the DC Universe.  One such moment was in a recent episode where the (Green) Arrow was battling Ted (Wildcat) Grant in his gym. At one point, in an attempt to keep things non-lethal, Oliver sticks an arrow into a boxing glove and shoots it at Grant.  That's right, a boxing glove arrow!  It looked just as cool as when I first saw one when I was a kid!

This is the second beat-down The Hulk has given Green Arrow recently (the first one was with Green Lantern in STF #919), and it will have repercussions - on tomorrow's cover, so stay tuned!

I've liked Green Arrow since he quit the Satellite League in '79 or '80. That was good stuff!

Can't wait to see the conclusion!

Reminds me of when Ollie single-handedly took down Solomon Grundy, in the old Arrowcave, about a decade ago (not long after he -- Ollie -- was revived from the dead).

I loved the FIRST Green Arrow maxi-series (does ANYONE stıll use that term?) by Mike W. Barr wıth covers by Jim Aparo back ın 1982. It really made me love the character. The '80s were just a great tıme to be a comıc reader. No decade has come close to its excellence!!

@Anonymous: I liked that one, too. But at four issues, it was billed as a mini-series. Today, they're just called "limited series." But back then, any limited series of 6 issues or less was a "mini-series," and more than that was a "maxi-series."

Clint "Hawkeye" Barton once made the same mistake, re: the Hulk. And, he almost had his avenging ass handed to him by the rest of the original Defenders (lol)!

I gave Arrow a chance. While it is interesting, Arrow is not Green Arrow, and I am a bigger fan of Green Arrow. In one episode I watched, Arrow tortured a man and Green Arrow would never do that.

@Anonymous: That pre-Crisis four-issue Green Arrow series was drawn by Trevor Von Eeden. I remember being disappointed at the time it came it out that it wasn't by Neal Adams or Mike Grell, but liked the story. I dug it out a few years ago and reread it on its own merits and was surprised by how much the art managed to improve while it was sitting in that box.

I'm with Ed. I am enjoying The Flash, however, even though the fact that the Flash has been imprisoning metahumans in solitary without due process, and Barry Allen would never do that.

(I did it again. I wanted to change "despite the fact" to "even though," but I hit Publish before I finished the change.)
