Mister Miracle and Mister Fantastic

I keep hearing about how the reboot of Fantastic Four is going to be a more "grounded" version of the team.  Thant's an adjective that I would never think to use for a team consisting of a guy who bursts into flames, a guy made of rocks, and especially a guy with stretchy powers.  I think that the FF are supposed to be larger and life, fully embracing all the craziness of superhero comics, while keeping things relatable with their familial relationships with one another.  I don't think it's the kind of property that would benefit from a gritty Batman Begins type of approach. Still, the jury is out until I see some actual foortage.

You forgot "and a girl who makes force fields and can turn invisible" ;P

I have to admit a certain level of trepidation on this reboot. The casting on Ben Grim bugs me because the guy is so small in real life and that just feels wrong - Ben should start out as a big loveable guy to begin with.

Sidenote: I'm going to have the "Sisters" song stuck in my head this morning.

Probably a complete coincidence, but both these guys have been played by Ioan Gruffudd! (Reed in the FF movies, Scott in Justice League Unlimited.) Probably not what you were going for when you teamed them up, but kinda neat nonetheless...

That is definitely a cool connection!

It sounds like the FF reboot is going to maybe be an Ultimate version.

I heard James Robinson talking on a podcast, he didn't sound very upbeat or encouraging about what Fox is doing with the FF...
:D

I was going to suggest you do a Mister Miracle, Mr Fantastic team-up, so I am glad you did it on your own. Another one with the two of them escaping (or needing to escape) could be fun.

Also, how about a Mr Fantastic/Mr Peabody time traveling cover?

Thanks for all the fun covers!

PS: I am looking forward optimistically to the FF reboot.

I'm reminded of that recent song that goes: "Mr. Mister on the radio; the stereo. The way you move just thrills me so!"

LOL

Since the Samuel Jackson version of Nick Fury was introduced in the Jim Lee "Heroes Reborn" FF comic, that might be the model for the movie reboot. The Ultimates is more likely, given the way the Avengers and new Spider-man movies have gone.

I would be more concerned about their pissed off wives if anything happened to the men.

I think that this cover is very much ripe for a sequel and Doom won't be happy when Sue and Barda will knock his door asking where their husbands are.
