Deadman and Dead Girl
I gave up on trying to follow and make sense of the numerous reboots to the X-Men family of comics long ago, but every once in a while a creative team is announced on a title that gets me interested. One such case was with X-Statix, by Peter Milligan and Mike Allred. They created a team of heroes as pop-stars that was unlike anything I had seen from Marvel at that point. Allred's design sense and Milligan's creativity made for an interesting group of characters and readers got to see some fun takes on various tropes from superhero comics. Sadly, it only lasted a couple of years, although characters like Dead Girl and Doop have popped up since.

I had no idea X-Statix was that interesting. Who can keep track of all these X books?
Yeah, their over-abundance is kind of X-asperating.
