Wildcat and The Black Panther

Wildcat is another victim of the New 52 DC Reboot.  Oh, I'm sure that James Robinson's Earth 2 series will feature some kind of take on Ted Grant, but from what we've seen thus far, I don't know if we can count on this new incarnation to resemble the Wildcat that we knew before.

With all of the Marvel movie news of late, I am surprised that we haven't heard anything new from the long-rumored Black Panther film.  A superhero who is also the king of a technologically advanced society in the jungles of Africa could make for a cool and unique film.  Marvel seems to want to have characters to add to its Avengers movie roster and T'Challa would be the perfect candidate, so hopefully we will hear some movement on a solo film soon.

A cable series would be the best way to present Black Panther. Think of Boardwalk Empire or the numerous Roman Empire themed series. Having T'Challa keep the reins of government from Killmonger and the various tribes within Wakanda from petty conflicts and greedy outsiders from invading will all require much more time to play out that a theatrical movie. Both Don McGregor and Christopher Priest were able to make this supposed B-lister a critical and commercial success by making full use of the political intrigue of the Black Panther without having to give up and turn to the X-Men for sales. Spider-man sells movie tickets, but Black Panther could sell boxed sets like The Wire or The Sopranos.

Dave sez,

@pblfsda,
I agree with that 100%! Once Joss Whedon has launched an ABC Marvel TV series - get him working with Jeph Loeb on a Black Panther series.

It is still early, but I am hoping that DC allows James Robinson an opportunity to try to recapture the magic he created with Starman. I think too much early attention focused on Alan Scott. There's a lot of other interesting stuff happening on Earth 2...

There was already a mention of Ted Grant in Earth 2 (IIRC, a poster advertising a fight of his), so I think it's safe to assume we'll see him soon.

Next would be stupendous if just as Comicvine pitted X-24DC Pantha vs X-23X-men beating deathbatle or vsbattle sites if ya could also do a Pantha vs Wildcatfight.
Now that would be a feast for the eyes that maybe not even RuPaul34 could match.
