Metamorpho and Hellboy

These two always seemed to have similar personalities to me, so I suspect that they would work well together. Hellboy is always coming across strange looking beings with fantastical powers, so joining forces with Rex Mason would just be another day on the job for him.

I can just picture Rex, with his trademark flippancy, sarcastically chanting; "Orb of Ra! Sis-boom-bah! Turn Stagg and Java into kielbasa!"

Regarding the art - clearly Staff of Ra was added to Hellboy but were shadows added to Rex to make him fit in?

No, that's how Giffen drew him, and it reminded me of a Mignola style, which gave me the idea to do this cover.

I never cared for Giffen's drawing folks with half their face obscured.

Big fan of both characters.

Bob Haney's Metamorpho was a hidden gem of the Silver Age. Hellboy, of course, was great.

I see more of a similarity in Hellboy to Ben Grimm -- speaking of which, I only see the two together for Poker Night, and a disagreement way back in the MTIO era. I think it's high time they had a proper adventure together under the current banner.

Wicked combo Ross! At first I thought they were both Mignola's art. Maybe a Metamorpho movie will be one of Guillermo del Toro’s next projects.

('d love to see Hellboy team up with Goliath and the rest of the Gargoyles XD

Rex was better than second string, but DC didn't do much more with him. Funny how many characters DC had that could change things or totally change themselves, including the LoSH.

@Emsley Wyatt: then I sure hope Ross never does Jack of Hearts vs. Eclipso!

@Anon325: on the contrary. That would be a great crossover! If only so we could see if Ross would dare entitle it...
