Mephisto Vs. The Phantom Stranger in: "Giving the Devil His Due!"

Mephisto's dialogue here refers back to the events of STF #2240, where he first tangled with The Phantom Stranger.  He should have known that this was one crimefighter that he could not intimidate.  It looks like the Stranger's tactics for dealing with the demonic entity will be a bit different this time around.

What do you want to bet that he hands over that mysterious (and otherwise never-explained) amulet he wears around his neck?*

*At least, I honestly can't recall it ever being given an in-story explanation.

I believe that (on Earth-N52, at least) the medallion was made from the thirty silver coins that Judas Iscariot was paid for betraying Christ to the Romans.

Yes! Always awesome to see the Phantom Stranger go up against the arch enemies of the Cosmos. Thank you Futabakun for the backstory on the Stranger's medallion. That packs way more punch than some trope of it being part of some Infinity Stone collection. Heaven only knows who the Phantom Stranger has in mind. Well, Ross knows too.

@Ken & Ross: how about Ragman from STF #4203? Assuming, of course, that he's the supernaturalized one. I mean, that version is supposed to have a suit composed of rag patches that are really the souls of once-evil mortals. Right?

"Agreed". "Come to offer something far more valuable..." He's not a bad guy so he's not going to give a potential victim sacrifice... So a challenge?? What would M. want more than PS's soul?? What does Mephisto need?

How about the Totalitarians? Or, even better; Starro! I mean, why couldn't that be the reason that overgrown echinoderm is seeking help from BG and the Atom @ STF 4206?

@Anon854: if that were the case, would the Phantom Stranger have Deadman take over Rudy "the Parasite" Jones in order to drain the Totalitarians' collective powers? Perhaps with help of X-women* Rogue and Magik?

*I find it less time consuming than using the individual phrases "female X-man..." and "New Mutant..."
