Justice League of America and Transformers

Presenting Part One of a Two-Part Epic! There are plans for yet more Transformers movies.  I can't say they have maintained my interest with each new sequel, but perhaps some new life will be injected into the franchise since Michael Bay will be passing the directing duties on to someone else.

So who is the Leaguer that Optimus Prime is referring to here? Make sure to come back tomorrow for the exciting conclusion!

Well, two of the Top 3 candidates are on this cover! Batman; the World's Finest Detective. And Hawkman, whose Thanagarian "absorbascan" device Optimus Prime might link up with (a la Prof. X and Cerebro).

The third candidate, of course, is the absent Red Tornado. Unfortunately, those of with child-like impatience will just have to wait for tomorrow's cover to see which (if any) of my three guesses proves right.

Superman is conspicuously absent so I bet we'll see him tomorrow in part 2.

Personally, my money's on Red Tornado.

So have you seen the promotional artwork by Phil Jimenz for his proposed Transfers and JLA mini-series. It was turned down but Optimus Prime as a Green Lantern stood out for me.

I cheated a little - The Leaguer in question is NOT on this cover...

Cyborg? (From their film universe.)

My bet would also be Cyborg but I think Green Lantern and Mr. Terrific might also be valid options. What space sector is Cybertron on? Maybe there is a GL Transformer out there

@Scott: "Transfers"?!

Is that a prospective Transformers/Space Cabby crossover?

That mention of Space Cabby reminded me of his recent pairing with Space Ghost, and that in turn got me thinking about whether Space Ghost was part of any teams here. I did find him as a member of Saturn 6, but he seems an imperfect fit with that group. What if he were to assemble a team of "less cartoony" space heroes? He's already met Adam Strange and Silver Surfer, for starters. Setting aside anyone already affiliated with an organization (like Nova or Green Lantern), we could add at least ex-Jedi Ahsoka Tano. The group probably could be rounded out with Five from the Dark Matter miniseries (which was later developed into a TV show, where Five eventually turned out to be a noncombatant badass).

Speaking of less-cartoony space heroes, why haven't we seen the crew of Serenity from Firefly on this blog. Lot's of teaming possibilities: Space Ghost, future Jonah Hex (or even past Western heroes), a space "truck stop" where Serenity, Enterprise, Mill. Falcon, Space Cabby, GotG all stop for lunch, etc.

@Jay Johnson: you mean like the Star Stop from US-1/SHE-HULK?

Bob Greenwade said...

@Jay: If nothing else, River Tam could join my little group.
