Wonder Woman and The Human Torch

DC is taking their time announcing any details for a third Wonder Woman film.  Despite the critical and commercial underperformance of the sequel, I figured that Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot would be able to finish out a trilogy with the character.  Still Warner Bros. seems to be in a state of flux right now with the Discovery merger and no previously announced projects are considered to be 100% safe.  Hopefully we will get some clarity on Wonder Woman's cinematic future in the coming weeks.

I've got to hand it to you, Ross. You are one staunch Torch-bearer.

I would've figured this to be a good cover for Cap with Diana, except that it looks like HT was part of the original cover, based on the condition of that tank. On the whole, though, this looks like it could've been an actual cover.

As for the DCEU, except for Black Adam and the Shazam! sequel that seems to be in development hell across the board, due in no small part to Ezra Miller's misbehavior and the truth coming out about She Who Must Not Be Named (whose presence in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom has now been edited down to 10 minutes, or so I understand, as the petition to remove her completely is on its way to becoming the most-signed at change.org). All of this is as I learn that, in addition to what I posted about it the other day, WB is looking to do like Disney (unsurprisingly) and put all of their DC-related projects on either movies or HBO Max, and all in one universe (with the exception of The Batman and its two planned sequels). On the whole, the entire DCEU has turned into a worse mess than my apartment.

PS: I had a thought about seeing Ghost Rider and Vigilante, not like what was done in #1227, but rather a treatment somewhat like you later did with GR and Johnny Thunder: a two-parter featuring the originals in Part One, then their successors in Part Two.

Perhaps there is a rivalry brewing between the original Human Torch and the Classic Cap for the heart of Wonder Woman? Maybe we'll see it.

With the 3 Billion in debt that WB Discovery got saddled with and the announcement that a lot of their scripted programs are being cancelled I don't expect a lot of projects to ever see the light of day. My money is on the whole CW Arrowverse line-up being killed either at the end of this season (Batwoman & Legends of Tomorrow ring any bells) or what ever survives being killed next season and all the movies being scrapped until the new company has a plan to rollout an all new line-up of stories.

I agree with Bob that Cap would have been good for this cover, but maybe this will lead into a JSA/Invaders team-up, and we'll get to see the STFU's favorite power couple tomorrow. That reminds me; have we had the Invaders face off against the Freedom Fighters in these hallowed covers yet?

I kind of hope they do a The Batman trilogy and then launch a NEW DC live action universe with everything consistent. They won't be able to make the DCEU into the MCU by frankensteining together the best parts of the current DCEU, the CW's Arrowverse, HBO's various live action projects, and the odd DC property from ages past... though if they do try that, they should get Ross to do the movie posters.

I wonder how much heat is required to melt a tank. Presumably a lot. I'm pretty sure they weren't fazed by standard flamethrowers (at least the metal bits weren't -- the rubber treads and the oxygen-breathing people inside might be a different story). Which raises the question: how much heat could the original Human Torch generate? And, given that he was an android created with 1940s tech, what kept him from melting at such high temperatures?

Other anon, you mean he holds a torch for her?

Plot considerations.

@Anon451: it would be more accurate to say he has the "hots" for her. But, Cap will do his best to "shield" her from the android's advances.

And we "tank" you for playing "People Are Punny!"

@ Everybody else: maybe Diana and the Torch are trying to rescue Cap, who's been led into yet another trap where Bucky was the bait. If I were Ross, I'd start planning a sequel. "Wonder Woman vs. Die Kriegerin (The Warrior Woman)!"

This Torch would be the first "human male" to be able to set foot on Paradise Island. Jim would make quite a scene as he helped the Amazons fight any threats there as well.
Diana might be able to really enjoy a different kind of friendship with him.

Nah! Carol Vance-Martin, the Golden Age Wildfire, would be a more natural pairing. Failing a complete lack of her images for Ross to capture, I'd settle for her mid-1970's reboot: Danette "Firebrand" Reilly
