Judge Dredd and Jonah Hex (Part One)

It's been a tough week for comicdom, first losing Neal Adams and now George Perez has passed on as well.  I am glad that fans and pros had the chance in the last year to honor Perez after hearing of his terminal diagnosis.  His honesty about his illness allowed that to happen, one more gift he gave after the decades of enjoyment that his amazingly detailed artwork provided. Both Adams and Perez have created such impressive bodies of work that they will rightfully be remembered forever.

This is only Part One of a Two Part team-up - make sure to come back tomorrow for Part Two!

I honestly cannot add anything to your eulogy, Ross, except another "Amen!"

RIP, gentlemen.

Terrible shame about Adams and Perez.

Both Hex and Dredd were, of course, inspired by Clint Eastwood.

I'm hoping tomorrow's Part Two uses the future Hex. We'll see. I have nothing against the normal Wild West version, but I certainly would love to see the future-phase of the character more often here; I think that's only happened with #1369. Maybe he could be paired with some of Marvel's 2099 roster, or even the Jetsons.

Meanwhile, about the only 19th-century characters that Jonah hasn't been paired with are Zorro and Sherlock Holmes. The latter's a bit left-field, but I'm a little surprised by the former.

Look closer, Bob - this is the future Hex.

As in, THE ONCE AND FUTURE HEX?*

Which, of course, is just my "subtle" way of hinting for a clash between time-traveling Jonah and the Sentinels from DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. :-)

Why not? The Sentinels haven't been used for the past 52 issues.

I stand corrected! The holster threw me, and I didn't look closely enough at the shoulder.

And here I was just going to throw out the possibility of Captain Carter with Batwoman. (Never mind what made me think of it.)

Maybe using the HEX logo rather than the western Jonah Hex would have been lass (or more) confusing.

@ my namesake: "Lass confusing?"

Is that a reference to Jane Hex (the Earth 11 version of Jonah Hex)?
