This pairing comes from a idea by comics' historian and Patron of this blog, Marc Tyler Nobleman. Like many kids, I thought "Hey, that isn't Black Lightning!" when Black Vulcan appeared on The Super Friends. It only makes sense that he should be given a unique back story of his own to further differentiate himself from DC's premiere electrical hero. With Vulcan right in his name, the story suggests itself! Thanks, Marc!

If he ever appeared on a CW super-show, do you think Black Vulcan would be played by Tim Russ? I mean, let's face it. Tuvok was the first black Vulcan to ever appear on a live-action STAR TREK series. ;-)

when i saw heading it made me think
that we would be seeing Tim Russ as Tuvok along with Mr. Spock....
perhaps this cover should have been Black Vulcan with a black Vulcan????

If Tim Russ were to play Black Vulcan in the Arrowverse, I hope it's on Legends of Tomorrow, where that sort of quirky humor fits best. And I, for one, would be quite in favor of it.
Now all we need is Dr. Leonard McCoy paired with his ancestor, Hank.
There are three other Star Trek franchise crossovers we really need: Doctor Who on the Voyager, so the Doctor can meet the Doctor*; Captain Picard meets Professor X (photo or conventional), for a Patrick Stewart tribute cover; and Discovery with the Legion of Super-Heroes, just because they both take place in roughly the same time-frame.
*Yes, I've mentioned this one a few times before. I'm trying to not be a pest about it, but, well, by now you know how I can get.
Prof X/Picard with Patrick Stewart was done in STF #589. Hank and Leonard McCoy met for real in a Star trek/X-Men crossover.
I totally missed that Prof X/Picard pairing, which is a bit embarrassing because, looking back, it's one of your better works in terms of craftsmanship. And I'd clean forgotten about the real-world X-Men/Star Trek crossover.
Ah, well; there's still those other two.

BTW In case I haven't brought this up yet, how about pairing Futurama with the Legion of Super Heroes, since they both take place in the 31st century?
Or, failing that, the 5th Element meets Kirk from "Star Trek:TOS."
This cover is worth a whole Dilithium Crystals mine! Solid concept, and Black Vulcan might even be friends with Dick Grayson. (Amanda Grayson comes up in this family tree in the twenty third century.)
Not likely that Black Vulcan will be turning up on the CW, since he's a Hanna-Barbera property and not owned by DC. Still, they managed to get a version of Isis on LoT despite a similar problem, so... who knows?
Hanna-Barbera and DC are both under the Warner Brothers banner so it's not completely impossible...
