The Silent Partners in: "Breaking the Silence!"

We've now seen The Darkhold on Wanda/Vision after a version of the book was used on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., so it appears that Kevin Feige is ready to use concepts and characters from the Marvel TV shows.  That's good to hear, because I think the MCU will do a much better job of presenting heroes like Black Bolt and The Inhumans and villains like Absorbing Man and Graviton than we got in their first live action incarnations.

This is the fifth adventure of The Silent Partners - they last appeared battling Soundwave in STF #2810... the recruited Man-Thing in STF #2250, they were targeted in STF #1650, and made their debut in STF #764...

If B.B. snapped, they're gonna need a cry for help. Would it be cheating if they had someone telepathic in their ranks?

Sorry! He's too busy making another bad fashion statement.

This is an awesome cover, Ross. Man-Thing looks a little awkward, but the others all look like they might in just this situation.

I do sometimes wonder about Jericho not being a part of this team, though admittedly with Batgirl and Silent Knight already there it'd make them a bit DC-heavy. (And who knows, but that what's going on here is that Jericho possessed Black Bolt in order to ask to join!)

I'm actually a bit disappointed that Kevin is apparently de-canonizing the ABC shows. I'm among many Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. fans who would like to keep most if not all of what happened there (including LMD Coulson, Daisy taking her family on a space mission for S.W.O.R.D., and Mac heading up a new S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier), and I thought many aspects of The Inhumans were fairly well-realized. Black Bolt and Absorbing Man actually appealed to me more than the comics originals (as did Netflix' Punisher).

That's probably the precise reason he's doing it.

Kevin Feige (trying to sound like Mike Meyers as Dr. Evil): "We will teach Mr. Greenwade a lesson. Won't we, my minions? That lesson being...silence is golden!!"

@Anonymous and Kevin: maybe so. But, his eyes still see.

@Anon@4:28: I'm still allowing that we might at some point learn that (among other things) Agatha somehow obtained the Darkhold after its run on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.; hence the word "apparently."

@Cary: Well... the right one does. Don't rely on the left one.

@Bob: As in Colonel Nick Fury, Capt. John Battle, or Magic Agent Force?

Bob Greenwade said...

@Cary: Well, among the characters I have on my (quite long) list of potential cosplays are Nick Fury, Rooster Cogburn, General Chang, Archangel, King Bradley, and "Mad Eye" Moody, along with Two-Face, Jack of Hearts, and the Toxic Avenger. (I'm still able to pull off others such as the Shadow, Richard Castle, Harpo Marx, Doctor Mid-Nite, Old Man Logan, the Evil Midnight Bomber What Bombs At Midnight, etc.)

@Bob: Don't forget Commander Jonathan Kidd (from the Filmation spin-off of "Fantastic Voyage") and Space Angel (imagine Nick Fury with Buck Rogers' rocket ship and Clutch Cargo's lips).

@And anoy, is it true Ron Howard's Opie was based on Clutch Cargo's ward Spinner?

@Anon@11:26: Definitely worth considering.

Looks like the right eyes have it. :-)

I also don't think de-canonizing the entire Agents of Shield and Netflix shows is the smartest move, sure, inhumans was terrible (Not the fault of any of the actors involved, I blame Scott Buck and Isaak Perlmutter), and other than Daredevil and season 1 Jessica Jones, the Netflix shows stumbled, but they all also had strong points and could be salvaged.

Also, the Ghost Rider and many other side characters in Agents of Shield were fantastically realized, Absorbing Man included, and the design of the Darkhold was far superior to the generically evil tome we saw in the last eps of WandaVision, IMHO.

Milinda May, Quake, Mac, FitzSimmons and Coulson LMD all deserve another shot in marvel shows. The first two are ready for movie guest starring roles. We all know Coulson would be amazing.

Always a treat to see this team on a cover, Ross. Great job.
