Chewbacca and Iron Man

I was glad to use the amazing artwork of Phil Noto for this cover. His unique style always reminded me of the cool images I would see in classic advertising.  His ability to utilize such a style on the comics page makes for some gorgeous looking covers and interiors.  I was glad to get an original sketch by him several years back:

Here you go again, another incredibly perfect cover. Glad I don't have to choose your 10 best covers, I'd go insane trying.

Hmmm! Those look like Trandoshan slavers in the foreground. But, how on Earth did Iron Man get to the GFFA? Is Merlin of Avalon up to his old time-traveling tricks, again? If so, what's he trying to do, this time? Prevent some ancient* Infinity Gate from being reverse-engineered by Tony's troublesome ancestor...Iaco Stark?

*As in, pre-Old Republic.

He's not the droid you were looking for.

@Ken: Well, if he were an armor-suited SHIELD agent, he'd technically be a "mandroid."

;-D

@Anonymous and Ken: maybe they're looking for J.A.K.E. 3?

Ross, re @MarchHare's comment, have you ever thought about running a vote to find the 10 favourite STF Covers?
Meanwhile, this is a good 'un to be going on with

I've considered it, but it sounds like a lot of work!

Wise decision, Ross. No two people would ever agree on which of your covers should constitute that top ten, because everyone of them would accuse you and/or rival voters of leaving this or that cover out!

There's just way too many covers to choose from at this point, anyway! I've probably forgotten all about half of the ones I've loved, at least!

I suppose someone* could volunteer to count the votes to rank all of the covers with a particular theme or character on it.

*Definitely not me, unless it's the covers based off my own suggestions, or all the ones where someone joined the Green Lantern Corps.

@Ken Roskos: not to mention, an "in-" prefix. I mean, let's face it.

There's just no threat value to titles like Darth Tolerable, Darth Satiable, Darth Ept, or even Darth Kjet-printer!

Bob Greenwade said...

@Cary: But there's plenty of threat value to Darth Sidious. Darth Ept actually has potential, and is certainly better without the prefix. And Darth Kjet-printer still isn't that impressive with or without the prefix.

And there's a bit of mystery to names like Darth Jector or Darth Terest. I'm on the fence, though, about Darth Diana.

Carycomic said...

@Bob: Dart Diana is just trying to keep up with the Joneses.

@Cary: Well, as long as she never asks, "Hoosier Mama?" #BadPunNoCookie

David Letterman is a Hoosier Daddy (lol!).
