Captain Comet and The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants

The incredibly entertaining Wanda/Vision has ended and

MILD SPOILER FOLLOWS

The Scarlet Witch did not usher in the age of Mutants as some had guessed may happen.  Still, there seems to be some hope for X-Men fans - there's been a rumor of Marvel moving forward with plans for a movie titled The Mutants.  Not much to go on, and not even verified yet, but it's nice have some indication that the wheels are in motion to bring the Children of the Atom to the MCU.

I don't have my glasses on, but I thought at first your cover said Captain Carrot and the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants.

But the end of Wandavision was excellent. I couldn't believe how fast the episode went by.

Hope you caught the mid credits and post credits scenes!

Say Doc whenever I go by a street corner I feel like there's all these mutant idiots banding together. What should I do?

Tell them you're already in a band.(rimshot)

Inspired for: Rogue vs Amazo.?

Have there been any mutant robots?

At this juncture, Ross, I'd pessimistically say we have a better chance of seeing Wanda in her 1950 magician's assistant outfit in living color.

@Ross: wouldn't it have been more appropriate to have the Brotherhood going after Scott Summers and his long-lost cousin Buffy? Because, at least that way, you could've entitled it... "Mutant Enemies!"

So many fan theories were going out that I put up almost two dozen guesses about the ending on Twitter. I actually got one right! It wasn't a super-hard call, but it's still a bit of a spoiler, so I'll say what it was next time there's an appropriate cover here. (Hint: it involves Billy and Tommy, aka Wiccan and Speed... and my confirmation was in the last few seconds of the post-credits scene.)

I did make a couple of predictions that still might turn out to be true, to be shown in upcoming movies: (1) The only scenes where we saw the real Tyler Hayward were those inside S.W.O.R.D. HQ, after which he was replaced (with either a supernatural presence or possibly a rogue Skrull); and (2) despite indications to the contrary, Monica already had her powers before the events of the show.

And there does seem to be a movement asking for a show with Jimmy Woo, Monica Rambeau, and Darcy Lewis as the focus. Those three did have a great chemistry together, and I definitely would enjoy such a project if a good story could be found for it.

For today's cover, I'm not familiar enough with Captain Comet to comment much on the situation shown, but it does look interesting. I don't recall Spiral being a member of BEM, though that's probably just my lousy memory.

Say, just off the cuff, it might be interesting to see Pyro and Firebug teaming up for some arson action. It could be something for the Ice Masters to deal with, or a Batman/X-Men team-up.

@Anon@7:44: I bet that happens this Friday.

@Cary: I don't get it.

Back in the 70s The Avengers fought a group of Sentinels lead by 'Number Two' who was declared to be a mutant and slagged by his fellow robots :p Crazy times indeed

PS: Has Theseus ever been rendered in comics form? (You'd have to have seen the WandaVision finale to understand why I'm asking. I'll leave the proposed team-up to deduction.)

I just don't understand why they had to trash Agatha Harkness' reputation. Makes no sense to me.

@Reg: Old Religious Right vs. New Age Left, maybe?

Wonder Woman, She-Hulk, Big Barda, Black Widow, and Xena went into a pool hall for a friendly game when Deadpool yelled,"Rack 'em WAY UP!
Jen later defended them in court.

Ross, You have Captains Marvel, so how about for all the hero Captains, including Captain Carrot, something like (The Captains Log) ?

Carycomic said...

@Det. Tobor: actually, that'd be a better name for their favorite watering hole!

Bob Greenwade said...

@Tobor & Cary: For me, "Captain's Log" would be a good title for when Groot meets Captain Kirk.

Who is the Firestorm lookalike?

pyro?

@Anon@1:28/6:42: Yep, that's Pyro.

@Bob: I was alluding to the BTVS/Angel production company that partnered with CW.

Bob Greenwade said...

@Cary: Ah! I got it now. I've seen enough of their (other) productions to get it.

Arr... arrrr.

Carycomic said...

@Ross: technically, Spiral is not a mutant. She's a genetically engineered mutate from Longshot's home world!
