Master of Kung Fu Vs. Storm Shadow

News about Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has been somewhat sparse.  Other than some casting and a bare outline of the plot (and a few unconfirmed rumors), next to nothing solid has leaked about the production.  I saw one distant photo of Simu Liu and Awkwafina shooting a scene and a blurry long distance shot of a movie set, but little else.  That's not a bad thing, I feel like I already know too much about the upcoming Black Widow.  It's nice to go see a movie with no preconceived notions as to what is going to happen.  We'll get a trailer or teaser in the next few months, hopefully nothing too spoilery.

Interestingly, in the UK GI Joe book (called Action Force) it was revealed that Shang-Chi trained Quick Kick in a brief story to connect reprinted MoKF stories into the series.

Fun fact: there is a (sort of) connection between these two characters!

In the Marvel UK reprints of GI Joe, called Action Force, they ran Master of Kung Fu as a back-up strip. This sort of thing was common in UK titles, but the key difference here is that they made an effort to link the two properties.

They produced an original introduction to the MoKF stories in which the Action Force/GI Joe character Quick Kick revealed that his tutor and mentor was in fact Shang Chi, and that the MoKF stories were a flashback to his earlier adventures.

The story was written by none other than Grant Morrison.

You can see the whole thing here.

glad u said all that. good luck on this project. tjust saw ww 1984.

Not quite what the reviewers explained.
.Di & Steve did show awareness of the guy Steve was "using".
.the mirror scene was right from Quantum Leap.
. the invisible jet was just a jet they were using and she was able
to use her dad's power to make invisible.
. She had been working on this ability since the 1930's.
. The Duke of Deception's power being used so
it took Steve right from the plane exploding and brought his new ghost
right to her present.
.Di showed she was human and wanted her true love. That was the main focus.
. Paula made one wish but Max altered it on the military island.
. Di used her rope like Batman uses his bat gear to travel.
. Di hooked her rope on a cloud to keep traveling.
Her dad has a lot more powers than we know of so far.
.Most of the current day part is in July of 1984.
.Di's end scene has a Santa in it....
along with people dressed for summer and a little carnival with a carousel
and cotton candy being sold while it's snowing? that's true
.fun use of a credit within a credit to spotlight Lynda Carter in the credits list.
.This same Earth hadn't spawn Superman or Batman yet?
.Atlantis had no tv.

Good luck Ross with wanting to see a movie that you can enjoy knowing very little about as yo go in to see it.

@Comment Delete Ed: Not for another 20 years, at least. Which is tolerable...just so long as it never spawns Spawn!

Just wondering this isn't going to be one of those type of stories told on the Kung-Fu Theatres is it?

@Deleted: Thanks for all the WW84 spoilers. Fortunately it'll be long enough before I see it that I'll have forgotten most of them (not the Lynda Carter cameo, but I'd already learned about that one).

PS: Ross, I just read where DC is going to start new comics series for Batman '89 (Keaton) and Superman '78 (Reeve). I'm just wondering if we couldn't have the former character paired up with Godzilla '98 (even though that's closer to the Dean Cain era).

@Paul, if one of those type of stories is told on the Kung-Fu Theatres Wouldn't that prove the song right-- Every body was Kung Fu fighting!

If it didn't. Dole might.
