Black Lightning Vs. Aliens

It will be interesting to see what Disney/Marvel does with the Aliens and Predator properties now that they have the rights.  I imagine we will see more crossovers between the two monster franchises and Marvel heroes.  Will they stick to one-shots and mini-series, or will they perhaps be fully integrated into the Marvel Universe?  That might be a bit much.

Well, one thing's for sure: I now expect no more excuses for the lack of STAR WARS/AvP crossovers! One possible story idea that immediately springs to mind is a Clone War-era adventure wherein the Jedi learn that xenomorphs have been genetically engineered by the Separatists on a Feeorin colony world called...Yautja.

Marvel already had Aliens. They just called them the Brood. :P

Whatever crossovers they do, I think we can expect them to be only in comics, and non-canon to either property. That said, a story involving all four properties (Alien, Predator, Star Wars, Marvel) would be a hoot!

@Anon: well, now they can claim that the Brood is descended from xenomorphs who escaped from that far-away galaxy long, long ago.

:-P

Somehow, I can't imagine many people caring right now, what with the whole Gina Carano debacle.

Who's Gina Carano?

Bob Greenwade said...

@Anon@10:48: Gina plays Cara Dune as a recurring character on The Mandalorian. She made some fairly inappropriate tweets this month that led to her being fired. Some of her fans are protesting by canceling their Disney+ subscriptions.

Oh! Well, I don't subscribe to Disney+ in the first place, so I don't care if the whole "Mandalorian" series gets cancelled.

@Bob: If by "fairly inappropriate" you mean she made a salient point about how those with unpopular opinions are treated in our society, then sure.

for those keeping score:

Disney Plus, the relatively new streaming service from the Walt Disney Company, has more than 50 million paid subscribers to its credit, the company announced Wednesday afternoon. Feb, 2021.

How many people were pissed off??

Oh, right. About the cover. Suppose all the xenomorphs were up coming queens in the nursery?

Carycomic said...

Then, I would feel obliged to say that Metropolis is royally screwed.

@Daviticus and Horsefeathers: she can always start her own comic book publishing company. GC Comics!

@Anon: *GROOOOOOOOOOAN!*

Great cover! One of the most unique combos ever.

@Anony nony, its not her own comic company she would do. It's going in on her character's sister baking company.

Or she could do a string of animated cartoons for WB.

"Doonie Tunes!"

@Horsefeathers: Give it time.

You know, Mr. Sinister could be a good candidate for cloning Xenomorphs. Just saying. But then again, Mr. Sinister is always in the mix for cloning experiments. Maybe the Jackal (Spidey foe). Is there a clone villain in the DC universe other than Cadmus facility?

What about the Alien Xenomorphs vs the Brood? Or is that redundant?

Anonymous said...

@Unknown: well, in the 30th century DCU, you'd have either the Controllers the Dominators, or the Dark Circle. In the GFFA, you'd have either the Khommites, the Kaminoans, or the Yuzzhan Vong!

@Ordinaryguy2 Let's not forget the master of dc cloning, the king of splitting HEIRS, Lex (Mr. Humble Himself) Luthor. (Superboy -- Kon-El)

@Unknown: as redundant as the phrase "criminal lawyer."

Aliens vs Brood makes a lot of sense.

@me: How about Mars Attacks Naboo? "How rude!"

@Bob Greenwade: or, failing that, "Mars Attack Dejah Thoris."
