Like a lot of comics fans, I thought, "Hey, that looks familiar..." when the Harry Potter books and movies became a smash hit. I read and enjoyed The Books of Magic which introduced Tim Hunter years before, and it certainly seemed like an inspiration for the new wizard in training.
Thank you to David Welsh, a Patron of this blog, for suggesting this magical meet up!

inspire, simply inspired....
not just the idea, but also your finished artwork...
Ross, it's almost Supernatural how you can come up with these ideas that's miles high above the real things sometimes. Was Tim done after Prince Ra ? I don't think he ever worked with Superman or Batman. A very rare character.
Beautiful cover! My wife will love it too!
Maybe you could pair up Scooby-Doo with either fictional veterinarians Liz Wilson (Garfield) or Hershel Greene (Walking Dead), the premise being that the vet decides that Scooby needs to be NEUTERED! XD!
Why some people demand respect ;Neil Gaiman ,who created Tim years before Harry , had it pointed out that he could have sued Rowling over the similarities but instead Gaiman just blew it as "parallel development ." How can you not respect that in today's sue-happy society ?
This is my very first exposure to Timothy Hunter, so I did a little reading up on him. What's really drawn my attention* here was the owl: I wasn't able to determine the bird's name, but I've been doing a lot of looking at Hooty (the original Doctor Mid-Nite's pet owl), and it got me thinking: does anyone else in comics have an owl sidekick/assistant? A team made up of Hedwig, Charlie (the modern Doctor Mid-Nite's owl), Tim's pet, and any others might make for an interesting team... where the owls are not what they seem.
*Pun not intended, but appreciated.
I, too, would like to thank David Welsh for suggesting this team-up It's long overdue! On the part of the respective characters' real-world publishers, anyway.
Kinda like Rick Brant inspired Johnny Quest.
Bob Greenwade - Tim's owl is named Yo-Yo.
There was a brief nod to Harry Potter in the final issue of the Books of Magic series (Issue 75) though there is no interaction between the characters
@BigMike: Thank you! Now if we could only think of more owls to add to the group with Hedwig, Yo-Yo, and Charlie. (I don't think I'd include Winnie the Pooh's friend Owl.)
@Count Petofi: more like Jack Armstrong the All-American Boy!
Anyone ever do a family tree to see if Tim is any relation to "Let 'er" Rip Hunter?
@Horsefeathers: I think Waldo Newton once did. ;-)
Would it be fair to add the 1950s version of young Clark Kent to the cover? Even without the costume it looks like he would fit right in.
Bob Greenwade - How about Bubo from Clash of the Titans? :)
@Big Mike: I think Bubo would work. That gives us four.
What do you think, Ross? Charlie, Yo-Yo, Hedwig, and Bubo sharing an adventure?
Owl consider it
@Ross: GOOD ONE! :-)
Timothy Hunters owl is named YoYo (he literally turned his toy YoYo into an owl)
These two are long-overdue for a sequel.
