Megaton Man and Radioactive Man

I'd love to see an animated Simpsons spinoff that takes place in the world of Radioactive Man -  especially if it took its cues from the excellent Bongo Comics featuring Bart Simpson's favorite hero.  They were created with a true knowledge and love of comics history, with different issues having fun with the conventions of different comic eras.  That's a concept that they could extend to the different types of superhero cartoons that we have seen over the years.

I'd love to see Radiocative Man come to the small screen, particularly if it were scripted by Simpsons Comics writer Ian Boothby - he wrote some superhero scripts for Canadian humour troupe The Irrelevant Show which were not only funny but also showed a real knowledge and love for comics.

"Jeepers! My sidekick Fallout Boy is a dirty hippy!!!!

A highly unofficial survey: has anyone else--besides me--ever noticed how much Megaton Man's costume makes him resemble a cross between Superman and Cyclops of the X-men?

Will they next play the video game franchise "Fallout"? LOL! XD!

These two look like, no matter what, they're having a blast. #BadPunNoCookie

Throw in The Tick and you can really get this party started.

This is the play set that Harley Quinn wanted for her birthday!

Love it, Ross! And don't forget the extra-meta connection... Megaton Man's creator is Don Simpson (no relation) XD

With Fox and therefore the Simpsons now under the House of Mouse, I would love to see Marvel crossover some of their heroes with Radioactive Man. It wouldn't even have to be any of the good ones. Marvel's got so many great terrible characters that would not be out of place in a Radioactive Man comic. Fight Man immediately comes to mind, though I would pay good cash moneys for a team-up of Bart 'Bartman' Simpson and Irving 'Forbush Man' Forbush.

Superman and Cyclops? Perish forbid!! :)

I've always wondered why Matt Groening only found the name "Simpson" hysterical years AFTER I met him at San Diego, while I was still doing Megaton Man and he was doing Life in Hell (I bought his LIH collections, and he knew my stuff). Sheer coincidence, one supposes. Bill Morrison actually suggested such a team-up years later, and induced me to bring it up with Matt just after he'd won the lifetime Inkpot or something--who in response only stared at me like I was the dirt beneath his feet! Bill seemed to feel bad that he'd inadvertently set me up for this humiliation. Anyway, that the was the last it was mentioned. True story.

How about using Marvel's 'Captain Ultra'for this?

A comment from Don Simpson himself! I'm honored!

@BigMike20X6: If Donald Trump acts a lot like Michael Eisner (did) in selling his brand, with pushy marketing, maybe Biff Tannen and Shrek (*who were designed after Trump and Eisner) could share a cover; both characters are now under the same corporate umbrella (Tannen (Universal) and Shrek (Dreamworks): Comcast.

Simreeve -- Captain Ultra would be great also. As would Captain Rectitude and Nosferata the She-Bat.

And a comment from the man himself. How awesome is that? :D

I remember Nosferata, but not Captain Rectitude.

And I would have so enjoyed seeing Captain Everything in this team up.

With all the suggestions, Ross... I suspect a team coming. Maybe the Sqrewball Squad...

And the Sqrewball Squad could fight Justice League Antarctica (Major Disaster, Big Sir, Multi, Clock King, etc.)

I'm nearing the end of my re-reads of the Radioactive Man stories I have between the issues I own and Simpsons Super Spectacular. I also would love to see a good Radioactive Man spinoff show. I also hope some company brings the series back (continuing with Bongo's version, not some new version) someday.

Captain Ultra and just about anybody would be awesome on this blog. Maybe Color Kid. Or Edna Mode. Or the Martian Manhunter (versus some fire-based villain). Or (versus) Ultraman. Or in the occasionally-mentioned team of sartorially-challenged heroes.

@Mr. Simpson: Thank you for making a personal appearance here, and in so doing boosting everyone's day.

I got to draw Forbush Man for the first time in Marvel's CRAZY! -- which hit stores just this week. This is starting to sound like a plug...

There was a Megaton Man/normalman crossover back in the day where they explore the multiverse. It's a crazy read and worth checking out

While were on the subject of good terrible characters, how about a one-on-one team-up between Ambush Bug and The T**K!

Ross said...

That happened in STF #480

Comment Deleted couldn't have said...

Does this mean that Megaton Man can qualify for membership in the Lunatic Fringe?

@Ross: then how about Ambush Bug vs. Impossible Man?

So, basically, I'm the only one willing to admit it?

What a pity! :-(

I was just being facetious, Cary. As I recall, fans got the Superman-Cyclops nod immediately when the book came out in 1984. It certainly wasn't a secret. I was parodying superheroes, after all.

Thank you, Mr. Simpson! :-)

I look forward to seeing that special Forbush Man edition hit my local specialty store.
