I don't think that any comic fan was satisfied with the Galactus that we were given in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (except maybe the producers of Green Lantern, who made the same villainous cloud mistake with Parallax). I guess the silver lining is that a true representation of the World Devourer will not seem like a re-tread if Marvel ever wants to explore that story line again, once the Fantastic Four is brought into the MCU.
Thank you to Bob Greenwade, a Patron of this blog, for suggesting this lopsided match up!

Yes! The desert cart.
Now, a helping of Bizarro or the Impossible Man would be perfect!
My only question is, could Bat-Mite make Galactus sleep and have a NIGHTMARE?
Well, as a comics fan, I have to confess I was a little surprised. But, not dissastisfied! After all, it was established in the classic "Trial of Reed Richards" that Galactus is seen differently by different alien races! Only we so-called humans see him as a giant Caucasian in purple armor.
So maybe a golden outline of same within an interstellar smog bank is how a certain expatriate of Zenn-La originally saw him.
My ultimate battle is Galactus vs the Spectre at full cosmic power and an adventure comics sensibility. Galactus shows up to eat the Earth but the Spectre turns big G into an apple and eats him.
The fate of the world is in their hands... so make your peace now.
Ah, one of my pet ideas! Ross, I would love to have a copy of this printed out and autographed.
I was terribly disappointed when I saw that the producers of FF:ROTSS (at the behest, apparently, of certain Fox executives resembling the heroes of today's cover) had chosen to go the Ultimate Marvel Universe route with Galactus, especially with the classic version of Silver Surfer. I don't think that "Gah Lak Tus" had gone over well in the comics, either. J. Michael Straczynski, who wrote the script, said later that "You don't want to sort of blow out something that big and massive for one quick shot in the first movie" (referring to the possibility of a Silver Surfer spin-off/sequel), and he's right as far as that goes; but the solution to that for something like this would be to either increase Galactus' role in the film, or do it the way it was in the film but show his proper comics appearance in a post-credits scene.
Turning to the other half of the cover: I think we're nearing time for a live-action representation of the Inferior Five. I think it may be the wrong time for an I5 movie, but having them show up during the build-up to Crisis on Infinite Earths on Arrow or The Flash would be a load of fun.

Don't you mean a MITEmare?

Nope. In this case, i'm referring to Dr Strange's foe, Nightmare.
If Galactus does sleep, then Nightmare might be able to invade his dreams.
All I have to say about the MCU FF is that they'd better be new to the hero game. Johnny needs to be the same age as Peter Parker. Ben needs to have his very prominent brow ridges (and not have the craggy egghead of current comics). Sue should be wielding all of her powers. And Reed should be the new genius on the block (taking up Tony's area, but with absent-mindedness rather than humor). And enough Doctor Doom already! How about Annihilus & the Negative Zone, or the U-Foes?
Actually, I was satisfied with the Galactus-as-cosmic-cloud presented in FF:RotSS. Why? Because in the context of that particular movie, Galactus's only purpose was to provide a reason for the Silver Surfer to come to Earth. He/it serves his/its purpose in moving the plot along. Galactus, in this movie, was basically a cosmic McGuffin.
The movie was really about the Silver Surfer. If Galactus had shown up in all his giant purple helmet wearing glory, the movie it would have been about him, and the Silver Surfer would have been reduced to a supporting player. That being the case, I thought that the cosmic cloud was a rather elegant solution.
Love today's cover, Ross!
Now it's time for me to turn to harping on-- er, I mean encouraging my next most dear idea: The Klutz Commandos! Captain Klutz leads Awkwardman, Frog-Man, The Tick, Inspector Gadget, Hong Kong Phooey, and Joxer the Mighty! They might save the world, but can the world survive them???
With all the talk about the FF movie and Cinematic Galactus, I wanted to add that this is a genius cover.
Thanks!
