Sub-Mariner and Starman

I read this week that the original Justice Society will at last be making their return to comics as part of an upcoming Justice League story, and its about time.  They are about to get some exposure on DC's streaming service as well, as supporting characters in the Stargirl series.  It will be interesting to see Joel McHale's interpretation of Starman.   Let's just hope that the series doesn't get a cancellation announcement after only its first episode, Like Swamp Thing!

Could the starwand enable Starman to function underwater? Namor & Starman were not an easy fit for this pairing. If the octopus was Aquaman's old partner before the original Aqualad appeared, Subby may have felt it safe to leave Starman. And Namor still had those wings on his ankles.

Hesitant to feel hope for the JSA's return in the comics. Will it be after they have been aged so much from their last incarnation or a flashback tale before the Government forced them into a retirement? Say you saw Doomsday Clock series, would you think Time Trapper had anything to do as the outside force working on the timeline?

Time Trapper and Kang create a merry go round in time. Each new decision creates a new off shooting timeline.

DC is also bringing back the Legion of Superheroes and once again the have Cosmic Boy in a different color costume. His classic costume is pink, but in recent years they have had him in purple, blue, and now melon. The pink (particularly the magenta he wore in his limited series) as always looked best and it was unique. I don't know of any other Male heroes who wear that color. If they changed it because they think pink is for girls that's odd considering he wore pink in the 50s - 80s, supposedly less woke times than today.

Don't worry too much about Stargirl going the same route as Swamp Thing. The latter show was filmed in North Carolina, and the cancellation came because someone in that state's government decided that they only owed Warner 1/10 of what Warner was expecting to cover the cost of the show. That essentially halved the money they had to work with to produce the show, and the cut just made the show (or any other) not worth the cost to the studio. Stargirl, on the other hand, is being filmed in Georgia, and that state's been pretty good about keeping their deals solid.

I kind of like Tobor's match-up of Time Trapper vs. Kang. Something with multiple images of each, duking it out in various ways... that would be a fun cover. Maybe it could be the lead in a Giant-Size, with crazy time-tossed match-ups to follow up (like Jonah Hex with Iron Lad, Conan with Kamandi, or Sgt. Rock with C3PO and R2D2).

PS: In case anyone from DC happens to read this, I agree with Mr Pink about the color of Cosmic Boy's outfit. There are a lot of guys who can rock that hue and make it look masculine, and the general design of Cos' original costume should be very helpful in that regard. I'd even like to see it if the character ever shows up on Supergirl (though that's unlikely; the producers seem to have rolled him together with Saturn Girl).

Pink used to be the "boy's color" and blue for girls. It got flipped at some point. But I've never been in a men's department that didn't have plenty of pink shirts for guys. The Legion is 1000 years in the future so in that time it should be safe for men to wear pink, especially since everyone accepts aliens and robots.

It could be worse, Ross. They might not even air it, at all!

Ever hear of SNIP, starring David Brenner and Leslie Ann Warren?

P.S. Is that particular cephalopod the eponymous pet of a Golden Age Starman foe called "The Octopus?"

Close! He was the killer mascot for a crime ring called "The League of the Octopus" led by the (Golden Age Doctor?) Light.

Ross, Starman was one Of the first "golden age" characters I remember reading in Brave and the Blod #'s 61 & 62 in 1963 when was 9 years old. Loved his colorful costume, and the astounding cosmic rod. It's always a pleasure to encounter one o my favorite JSAers. Thx for helping keep my dream alive.

As for future team ups, yesterday I re- re-watched the original Swamp Thing movies and always enjoy the sheer fun they provide. I'm sure this is not too far outside the realm, how about Swamp Thing battling Gen. Halftrack from Beetle Bailey over Camp Swampy's encroachment into said swamp it must be named for. Always felt, because of its name, that it might be located near a south Georgia swamp like the Okefenokee.

I'm suddenly thinking that Namor's heading off to seek help from Suicide Squid.

If Camp Swampy is encroaching on Okefenokee, it might make more sense for General Halftrack to be confronted by Pogo and Albert Alligator.
