I gave that Earth-2 reboot by James Robinson a try. I was disappointed that Jay was a slacker and that Joan dumped him. The first few issues didn't give me the same sense of the JSA that the ten issue series did in the '90's. Or the original series that Robinson wrote with Jack Knight on the team.
I still believe that the JSA should be a period team. Kinda like The Invaders. Just leave them in WWII or bring them forward toward the early '60's. But not into the modern age. Maybe use some time travel like the Legion.
Hawkman appeared [and might have been killed] in a flashback in one of the recent preludes to DC's 'Batman. The Metal' storyline, as well, but that seemed to be a version of him who wasn't [yet?] a JSA member.
I agree about keeping the JSA as a "period" team. That would let us still have the 'legacy' concept without requiring the original JSA members' children to not have been born until those JSA members were in their 70s...
Love the callback to the original JLA crisis issues.
I'm even more hopeful about seeing an intercompany crossover between Marvel's FF and their all-girl counterparts: FemForce!*
*With the latter attacking the former on the pheromonal orders of Mandrill, perhaps.
You have a better chance of seeing "Roger Rabbit 2" before that.
And Roy C. Sullivan had a better chance of being attacked by a shark as opposed to NOT being struck by lightning!*
*He holds the Guinness Book world record for being struck seven times...and living to tell about it.
