Iron Man and Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman has finally lifted DC out of its cinematic slump, and has delivered a film that is being rightfully praised by fans and critics alike.  I loved it, Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot gave us a perfect redition of the classic hero, from the amazing sequences on Themyscira to Diana's attitude towards heroism and reaction to the world beyond the island.  Chris Pine and the supporting cast did a fine job as well.  Yes, there was some iffy CGI here and there, but on the whole, I thought it was up there with Batman Begins and Superman the Movie.

I was also impressed by the attention to detail, vis-a-vis the fashion and technology of the WWI-era. Most nay-sayers of "steampunk" science fiction decry the use of anachronistic technology in such stories. But, by World War I, such technology did, indeed, exist.

And the world has never been the same.

On a lighter note: to paraphrase the late, great Desmond Llewellyn, in OCTOPUSSY; "Tony Stark, on an island populated exclusively by beautiful warrior bwomen? We'll be lucky if we see him by dawn!"

For my money, Gal Gadot captured that Christopher Reeve optimism. Chris Pine nailed Lyle Waggoner's stoicism and Chris Evans' resolve. It was like watching the '78 Superman mashed with Iron Man, Captain America and Thor. And even though it was WWI instead of II - it worked! Saw it Saturday night - and I didn't see any flaws any where.

The director said there would be no Director's cut because she was not forced to cu anything she did not want to cut. But I think the whole Ares CGI sequence was overdone and they appeared to try to save money here because they were not sure if it would be a commercial success but now that is they should redo the CGI scenes IMO.

I did NOT like the fact that she was raised without her knowledge to be a weapon. Other than that it was a top 5 Superhero movie over last decade. I do like how she was inspired by Christopher Reeve's performance. The movement of the origin to WWI makes sense in context but I still prefer the goddesses giving her their powers (Hera, Diana, Aphrodite, etc).

For a 2nd movie I'd like to see Heracles revived with conflict between him and Diana before they settle their issues and work together against one or more of the Titans.

Great cover, Ross. I wonder if Iron Man is going to try to make time with Cap's woman....

I saw the movie last week. I liked it a lot.

No the line after the battle will be "How was I to know that Donna was your sister!"

@GH: Tony probably thought that, with a last name like Troy, she probably used protection.

The CGI may have been overused, yes but come on, do you really want the film to have that George Lucas Special Edition in order to redo the CGI effects? I really don't.

@ Mateus: OMG, pleeeeeeeeeeease, no!!!

George Lucas undeniably fixed what was never broken with that badly misnamed 20th anniversary re-release.

Like I said, I would be against the idea of Wonder Woman having said special edition.
