Dazzler and Elvis

There are a few characters that are based (visually at least) on real life singers.  Wesley from Wanted (Eminem) and John Constantine (Sting) come to mind.  Then there's Captain Marvel Jr. who inspired the legendary Elvis Presley to adopt his look, first with a hairstyle and later on with full stage costumes complete with cape.  I like that DC Comics returned the favor by having Freddy Freeman mention being a big Presley fan himself.

"Shuh-zay-uhm!"
That's an awesome cover and crossover! I have not seen X-Men: Apocalypse for the alleged Taylor Swift cameo. Have you done any crossovers with KISS and Alice Cooper? There was that Marvel KISS one-shot and then they had an ongoing a few years back... Comics and music go pretty well together, like chocolate and peanut butter - or should I say a peanut butter and "nanner" sammich - The King's favorite!

Kiss has appeared 3 times.

Cool to see Elvis here -- and how appropriate to see him teamed with another singer, Dazzler. The cover reminds me of when she defeated the Absorbing Man with a little help from Black Bolt.

Speaking of KISS (as AirDave just was), I was just thinking that you could team that group up with Spider-Ham, and call the story "Hog and KISS." #BadPunNoCookie

AirDave's suggestion of Alice Cooper would be interesting; you could team him up with Blue Devil, for that "hellish on the outside, nice on the inside" thing. Or pit him against the Joker, demented clown (his own words) against demented clown.

Time for another "Strange Sports Stories" issue: The Grandmaster pits LeBron James vs. Guy Gardner (Warrior).

This reminds me of the What The...?! (or was it one of the comedy issues of What If?) where Galactus was turned into Elvis.

Galactus has definitely taken off the gloves.

I thought Vibe was ridiculous as a superhero, but Elvis????

As Anonymous above said, this is a really offbeat cover!

Dylan: That was WHAT IF? #38, Volume 2, which decided that with that number issue, they'd follow the example of Volume 1, which also was a gag issue.

Does anyone recall the WHAT IF issue where Keith Richards (of The Who) replaced Reed Richards as leader of the Fantastic Four? Oh, God! I would love to know how Galactus dealt with that first-time confrontation. Lol!

Reading some back issues recently, which sports star do you think I saw in a comics-artwork advert for a make of boots?
O.J. Simpson...

The original painting featuring Dazzler and Galactus is from a french edition magazine with four Marvel series.
The Painting was by Jean Frisano who did several Marvel paintings for the french Market.
