The Hulk and He-Man

In recent interviews, Mark Ruffalo has hinted that The Hulk may be undergoing some personality changes in his next cinematic appearance, Thor: Ragnarok.  While I don't want the "Professor" version of the Hulk, it would be nice if he were at least a little more verbal.  He's only been allowed to utter a few words in his past film appearances, and I think that has made the character somewhat limited.  Let's hear some of his humorous nicknames for his friends and foes as well as throwing out boasts and warnings to his opponents.

Having grown up with a mute "The Incredible Hulk", I'm of a mind that less is more. I'll take fewer syllables. Fewer is funnier. I do believe that Mark Ruffalo has come closest to Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno.

But the Bixby/Ferrigno version got it wrong - Hulk was never mute in the comics.

Good choice, those two heros share a physique and a wardrobe!

Absolutely. I mean I definitely don't want a Hulk with Banner's mind steering the ship but it's pretty sad that we can't even get the big guy growing "Hulk Stongest One There Is!" or even a simple "Hulk Smash!"

Considering how Puny God was one of the big pops of the first Avengers they should really explore a slightly more talkative hulk. Just don't go overboard. His Laconic nature is why it's so fun when he does talk. When Hulk tells you o "Leave Hulk Alone" you know he MEANS it :p

Where you not a fan of the Professor/Merged Hulk of Peter David's run, or just don't want to see it in films?

Personally I think that gray Hulk would be great for the films, creating an internal antagonist for a team of just Banner.

Anotehr interesting and fun covers. Fine job.

Yeah, the child-like Hulk of the Silver Age was the best.

Sorry, that should be were not where. apologies. Always proof read, kids.

Davis told some good stories with the Prof Hulk, but it took too much away from what made The Hulk unique - there are plenty of normal intelligence strong guys in comics already, even in Hulk's own supporting cast.

Maybe something closer to the original Lee/Kirby HULK books. I personally like the animated Avengers Assemble version of the HULK.

The Hulk was a big favorite of mine growing up. The version I remember best is the childlike version, which brought a lot of pathos to the character. IIRC, a lot of those stories were written by the great Len Wein.

I really liked David's run on Hulk too, and thought his used of multiple personality disorder was really clever. I liked the Professor Hulk and Joe Fixit Hulk, but never as much as the simple, persecuted creature of my youth."

I think the original plan for the TV series was for the Hulk to speak, but Lou Ferrigno had significant hearing loss and that made it too difficult to try.

I hope they do the simple Hulk of few words but would love to hear him speak a little more.

The choice of He-Man as a teasmmate is great! He's one of the few characters whose name Hulk would get right.

Ha, good point about the names, Matthew!

I wish Ed Norton had been the Bruce Banner in the Avengers flicks. He captured the pathos of the Hulk's human half much better than Eric Bana and the other guy!

P.S.---I'd also love to see Norton's Hulk take on the Dolph Lundgren version of He-Man. I can just picture the dialogue.

"I have the Power!"

"Stupid Sword-man! Hulk has more." :-)

Seeing as how Dolph Lundgren was the first to portray the Punisher on film, back in 1989, I would've it considered it doubly more appropriate for He-Man to team up with everyone's favorite neighborhood wall-crawler against Skeletor and Spydor. ;-)

The Green Scar would be right at home in Asgard.

I would have loved seeing the Lundgren He Man take on the Ferrigno Hulk!
