Sgt. Rock and The Invaders

Years ago, there was talk of a Sgt. Rock film being planned, but nothing ever came of it. Names like Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger were mentioned for the lead role.  While I enjoy both actors, it's hard seeing either of them truly embodying the character.  In fact, I don't know who could really bring Frank Rock to life... maybe John Wayne in his prime?

What's funny is, when you mentioned Schwarzenegger, I immediately pictured him as Bulldozer.

Why not The Rock as Rock?

Nah! Mickey Rourke--Willis' co-star from SIN CITY--would be better for the title role. Dwayne Johnson? He'd more suitable as a composite of Gabe and the Ice Cream Soldier (as in "cool under fire").

You mean Jackie Johnson. Gabe is a Howling Commando.

For some reason, my wife cracks up laughing whenever anyone mentions "the combat-happy joes of Easy Company."

What a coincidence! My Dad snickers whenever the soldiers in a Vietnam War movie ask for a shower of Willie Peter. ;-)

Dwayne Johnson could do it, with a good script and director who's respectful of the source material.

Here are two more ideas for Sgt. Rock:

1) With Cyborg. Rock meets Stone.
2) Joining with Edward Scissorhands and the cover below: Scissors, Paper and Rock. http://www.amazon.com/Brave-Starring-Batman-Creeper-Paperchase/dp/B00ASSUSOM

Great website!

Dwayne Johnson could handle Sgt. Rock, but when I read the text here I thought of Jenson Ackles (of TV's Supernatural).

So of course Rock teamed up with Nick Fury back in STF #399, but that was solo and solo. How about letting their respective teams -- Easy Company and he Howling Commandos -- join forces?

I have to partially agree with Anonymous. Mickey Rourke, as Marv in SIN CITY, looked a lot closer to the Joe Kubert depiction of Sgt. Rock than Dwayne Johnson might. But, the latter would definitely make a great composite of Jackie and Wildman!
