Shazam and Shazzan

I remember watching Shazzan on Hanna-Barberra's World of Super Adventure and thought it was a clever cross between the Aladdin myth and super-heroes.  Still, I thought the "young masters" were a bit stiff and lame.  I would have rather have seen Shazzan as a solo act.  OK, he could keep Kaboobie around, he was kind of cool.

This is awesome!

Agreeing with Alaric. I've wondered about this since The Original Captain Marvel (which is what I still call him) made his comeback.

IIRC, Time Warner owns the Hanna-Barbera stable of characters as well as DC Comics, so this could actually be done. ^_^

Hey Ross, this is another great one... highly original and very well done.... my only question is where is Shaq O'Neil as "Kazzam" the genie from the film???? later, dude. jack-el

Considering that genies were only supposed to operate through masters, I'm pretty sure there was no way Hanna-Barbera could have depicted Shazzan back in the Sixties. In fact, truth to tell, I kept hoping to see Nancy wearing Princess Jasmine-type clothing at some point! But,a again, that would probably have violated the tasteful bounds of Saturday morning children's programming at that time. So, we both lost out.

But, I'm apparently taking less hard. ;-)

On a slightly more serious note? Alaric and Bob are right. This is the kind of crossover DC should have done in real life, if only to capitalize on the similarity in names. Thanks for finally implementing.

This one works so well. I love it. By the way, it's always nice to find Barry Windsor-Smith fan. I wrote about Weapon X in my blog (wich I encourage you to visit):

I hope you enjoy my review, and please feel free to leave me a comment over there or add yourself as a follower (or both), and I promise I'll reciprocate.

Cheers,

Arion.

Nice!
This is a possibility that I'd actually wondered about.

While you're considering "same name" team-ups, how about Steel (John Henry Irons) and Steel (Hank Heywood III)... preferably also featuring the latter's associate Dale Gunn, who could even -- as an Afican-American engineer with a suit of armour (although not on the former's level) -- could even be seen in some respects as a prototype for the later hero?

Since they are all DC characters, that one should be done for real...

I keep hoping to see some of the Hanna-Barbera superheroes such as Birdman, Frankenstien,Jr., or the Blue Falcon (with or without Dynomutt)show up in Scooby-Doo Team-Up, but so far, no dice. I'd even settle for Inch High Private Eye!

Such a crossover could result in a hero-vs-hero situation... back when SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE was still doing "TV Funhouse" cartoons, one was a parody of Shazzan where his habit of mirthfully mocking the bad guy as his magic made short work of him was dialed up to eleven, making him an outright sadist.

Lord knows, it would be a nice change of pace from Cap being the one manipulated into fighting the heroes for some writer-mandated reason.

@ 2nd Anonymous: But, Shazzan _did_ operate in the Sixties! 1967-68, to precise.

Can you depict a meeting between Shazzan and the genie from Disney's Aladdin?
