The Demon and The Thing

With Constantine looking unlikely to return for a second season, it seems as though comic fans will only have Gullermo Del Toro's rumored Dark Universe movie to count on if they want to see DC's more mystical characters in live action.  Hollywood seems to love revisiting the King Arthur legend, so an anti-hero like The Demon with ties to that era might be a welcome and unique addition to the silver screen's growing roster of comic book stars.

These two heroes met once before, in an all-Kirby classic during my MTIO period...

The Demon is a delight, if for nothing else but his ability to always rhyme! I've never read Hellblazer or Constantine, so when I first heard about it being on network television, I wondered how many episodes it would last. The jury still seems to be out on Agents of SHIELD. I don't consider the CW a major network, so I can only guess Arrow and The Flash have niche audiences. I raise an eyebrow on Supergirl. That's an interesting one.

I'm still kind of wondering about the Fantastic Four film. There are so many voices bashing it... I kind of want to wait and see... But I just don't know.

This particular team-up doesn't work for me, for some reason. :-(

Maybe if it had been Etrigan vs. Mephisto, or Etrigan vs. the Black Knight (Dane Whitman). Or even the Thing and the 7 Soldiers of Victory against their respective Doctor Dooms!

The team-up works really well for me! But, then, I've always enjoyed team-ups that combined characters with vastly different origins, backgrounds, and styles- to me, that's a big part of the fun of a shared universe- and, besides, I've read enough stories where Ben interacted with the supernatural for it not to seem jarring to me. Besides, they were both designed by Jack Kirby.

The cover works. Good rhyme.

I don't know what changed recently, but for about a week now, I no longer see the covers on this page. I have to go to the source code, pull out the link, and look at it on photobucket. Then it shows up okay on this page (cached).

Not your problem, likely. Has something to do with the old, no-longer-supported Opera12 brower, I'm sure, and I'll get it straightened out, but, frustrating.

@ A Mindful Webworker: I was without Chrome for a few months recently and for some reason loading even a single post of this blog took several minutes using Internet Explorer. It killed me because I come here nearly every day and reading new comments on the previous few days' posts could eat up an hour of my day. Getting Chrome back cuts the loading time down to seconds, but I can't believe that the graphics/links here are any more difficult to accommodate than elsewhere.

About the cover, I seem to recall Ben being a huge Stephen King fan. Hopefully that would come in handy when dealing with a sneaky character like Etrigan.

And Ben would probably follow up with some wisecrack, like "Burmashave".
