Starman (Prince Gavyn) and The Silver Surfer

DC has had many versions of the character Starman, but as far as I have heard they have yet to introduce a Starman into the New 52 reboot. The closest we have gotten is Stargirl, who is scheduled to be a member of the new Justice League of America. With James Robinson writing Earth-2, that title is probably the most likely place a new Starman will appear.  Still, I hope that DC revives the Prince Gavyn version of Starman.  I  have always liked him and would be very interested in seeing his continuing adventures.

Oh man, I loved Gavyn when he first appeared -- but whoa, rereading those stories recently was a little painful!

Actually, the Mikaal Starman DID pop up in the DCNew. He was in the first issue of the Shade miniseries, having tea and chatting with Shade.

Although I have seen him in poster pull-outs and covers, and I may have seen a brief cameo of him in Crisis of Infinite Earths, I have yet a get a hold of and read a comic with the Prince Gavyn Starman. He was not used after the late 1980s and '90s, and those Adventure Comics Digests were not easy to come buy where I grew up in East New York/Brooklyn. Seems to me his costume is the best!

This cover reminds me of why I preferred the Green Lantern of the early 1980s, when he was exiled to deep space. Those were the first issues I brought, and quickly lost interest when he returned to earth. I was always a "galaxy"-centric geek!
