Godzilla. Boba Fett may look cool, but he wasn't exactly competent.
Twitchy brings up an interesting point. Someone asked me whether Bear Waters (the protagonist in my novels) or Boba Fett would win in a bounty hunter showdown. I said that Boba would win, since Bear would forget to bring his weapons (an unintentional "running gag" in the story). But with the problems Boba has in the films, and Bear's resourcefulness, the fight may go to the sword-swinger after all.
As for today's match-up, when I saw the headline I thought this was something that couldn't possibly work. Then I saw the cover itself, and decided I was wrong. This looks great, and would make for a fantastic story.
I hope you feel that way about next Friday's pairing, Bob - it's an off beat match up that ended up being one of my personal favorites.
What made me doubt this one was the relative power levels. As for being offbeat, the weirder the better -- though I'm not sure you could beat the Wolverine/Ambush Bug pairing I suggested a while ago. (Unless you were to do something like Punisher and Little Lulu.)
There actually was a Punisher/Archie team-up in the mid-90's. And Little Lulu was always more of a badass than Archie. Then there was the Flaming Carrot/Cerebus story. Spider-man and the SNL cast. Those weird team-ups would occasionally happen. Most of the team-ups here probably would have happened if creative teams didn't have to consider licensing and intellectual property issues and could let their imaginations run wild.
Its impossible to imagine because Marvel held the rights to Star Wars for years. Not DC Comics.
Correction, Mysterwright: Marvel only held the licensing rights to about the late 1980's. After that, they were awarded to Dark Horse Comics...for close to 25 years!!!
