The Guardians of the Universe and The Watcher

I like these characters but none of them are particularly good at their jobs.  Uatu has a vow of non-interference that he treats as more of a suggested guideline than a strict rule to follow.  The Guardians claim to want to provide order to the universe, but have unleashed some pretty big horrors on it in doing so.  Oh well, these kinds of twisted work ethic make for entertaining reads when character like The Green lantern Corps or the Fantastic Four have to deal with them.  I do wonder, though, why such powerful entities still haven't found a cure for male pattern baldness.

Dave sez,

"Male pattern baldness"! HA! That's a good one!

I like how Fringe interpreted the idea of Uatu. Doctor Who seems to be a bit of a Watcher...without all that pesky "non-interference" either.

The one thing I don't like about Green Lantern are the Guardians of the Universe. They are constantly shown as either incompetent or an evil malevolent force rather than benevolent. Why do we assume that alien races are either superior or evil?

I'd like to see the Fantastic Four rebooted and The Watcher make an appearance. Maybe Disney will do that...

If they are beting shouldn't it be the Gamemaster instead of the Watcher?

I've never trusted that guy since he cheated at the first Contest of Champions....

@Cathy and Dave: it's probably due to job-related stress. ;-)

P.S. @Rick: I believe you mean "The Grandmaster." Gamemaster was an X-team foe.
