Batman and the Outsiders and The Phoenix

I read with interest yesterday a report that among the upcoming DC Zero issues will possibly be Katana #0.  Katana has recently been a member of the new Birds of Prey series, and will have a supporting role in the new CGI Beware the Batman animated series.  I have liked the character since Mike W. Barr created her and I am glad she is finally getting a higher profile.

Despite her name and history, The Phoenix has surprisingly remained deceased in the Marvel Universe for a while now.  The Phoenix force seems to be central to the current Avengers Vs. X-Men event, so we may just be seeing Jean Grey back before the story line's  end.

Very, very nice work on this faux cover Ross. It could easily be a real one. Nice! And a JLA/Challengers of the unknown/Doom Patrol vs. Phoenix would be even cooler!

The Phoenix will definitely meet at least one of those teams...

My favorite Outsider was not Katana (although I thought she was cool), no, my all time favorite Mike W. Barr creation was Halo, who had, in my opinion, the most unique powers & most original and complicated origin in the DC Universe. (It would be great to see her matched up here.) Not too happy with how her character evolved though, with the move to deluxe format, and I never forgave Mike Barr for her boring new costume. uhgh!

I totally agree. Halo has a cool look, name, powers and background. She is woefully underutilized in a DCU that has too few female characters not based on a preexisting male character.

Heh...I always thought Halo should have been created for an independant publisher like Fantagraphics, Malibu or Top Shelf. Mike Barr created her for the wrong company.

Which team?

Wait and see...

In the meantime, then, how about the Squadron Supreme vs. the Legion of Super-Villains? Or the Squadron Sinister vs. the Inferior Five? Or, at the very least, Hyperion vs. Lobo?*

*If you can't beat them, pretend to join them...then beat them (upside their heads)!

Testing, testing, 1-2-3! Ah, good! I'm back on the air.

@ the Real Anonymous: make it Lobo vs. Princess Zarda and you got a deal. :-)
