The Avengers in Crisis

Well, The Avengers is approaching 800 million worldwide and it has a chance to make over a billion by the end of the weekend.  This will open the doors for a lot of comic based films which could be a good or bad thing depending on the quality of the productions.  Based on the mid-credits sequence, Marvel is not shying away from the truly epic events for future films, which opens up a lot of possibilities as well.  We still have The Dark Knight Rises to come this summer so it will be a one-two punch for great comic movies.  if the new incarnation of Spider-Man does well, it'll just be gravy.  It's a great time to be a comic book movie fan and the future looks very bright.

100% AWESOME!! AND BY THE MASTER HIMSELF, GEORGE PEREZ. Ross, you have the buy or get a hold of the The Art of George Perez book. Its a wonderful coffee-table, and the insight he provides on his years at Marvel and DC is surprising!
This cover is waiting to be a giant-size poster hanging over the entrance of every hobby shop in manhattan.

I have that book, it's great. I would also recommend Modern Masters: George Perez and Focus on George Perez.

Dave sez,

That is a beautiful thing right there!

I have both Crisis on Infinite Earths and Infinity Gauntlet, both excellent reads. War of the Gods wasn't my favorite. But JLA/Avengers was well worth the wait!

Lets have the long-haired, bearded Thor go to blows with the bearded, long-haired Aquaman...title: The King and I.

Is Arak ever going to show up here?

Ross said...

I don't think I ever checked out Arak - he was a warlord spin off, right?

Does this count as the most characters you've ever crammed into a cover? Whew!

Ross said...

Yeah, I'd say it is.

Arak was Native-American. He kinda a spinoff from Warlord but Roy Thomas really went somewhere else with him. A fantastic, overlooked from the '80s, and the best artwork of Ernie Colon, many would agree.
