Blue Beetle and Spider-Man in "Bugjacked!"

I teamed Spider-Man with the Dan Garrett Blue Beetle before, but this is the pairing that I would really like to see.  I still miss Ted Kord in the DCU, and I don't see any reason that he and Jaime Reyes can't operate at the same time.  Of course, even Peter Parker has been killed off and replaced these days (in two separate universes, no less!), so Ted Kord is in good company.  The clear difference is that we all know that Parker will be back one way or another by the time his next film is out, but Kord's fate seems a lot more permanent.    Hopefully, he will have a chance to return sometime down the line.

Ted Kord was played tongue-in-cheek in JLA in the late 1980s, but the Silver Age version was almost as angst-ridden as Peter Parker. I suspect Charlton instructed Ditko to make the strip as similar to Spider-Man as possible, short of provoking a lawsuit. As for killing off the characters, we know that nothing in comics is permanent. Spider Man will be back, and so will Blue Beetle if there is enough demand for it, or if some writer thinks he can use the character.

I first got hooked on Ted Kord as the Blue Beetle when he made his appearance in Crisis on Infinite Earths. I read his book for a little bit. I followed that L.A.W. mini-series. It's a shame that he just never caught on any bigger than he did. Maybe if DC had kept The Brave and the Bold going...

I doubt that Ted will be brought back any time soon...It took DC 25 years to bring Barry Allen back.

I would like to see him come back in maybe an "untold stories" style. Maybe a retro '60's, animated style book. Something wacky and fun like comics used to be.

The same could be kinda fun for Spider-Man, too...

Uh, the Ditko version is the exact opposite of angst-ridden as a result of his Objectivism. Nothing at all like Spidey except the art style.

They stripped him of the elements that made him unique, i.e., Objectivism and girlfriend in on his alter ego, and made him generic. Then they turned him into a joke. Not surprised he didn't last after all that. Sad.
