I've received so many suggestions for additional members to this blog's first team that I decided to create a story about it! So who would come out on top in this conflict?
This is Robo Force's sixth appearance on the blog - they battled Magnus: Robot Fighter in STF #2090... they faced off against Brainiac in STF #1850... they almost lost one of their own in STF #1450... they battled Ultron in STF #202 and first became a team back in STF #150...

I can see the 2nd team being under the control of a more dangerous force looking to control Robo Force, and eventually the 2 two teams work together to stop the Borg, who were able to somehow reactivate Lore.
excellent... excellent...
excellent...
EXTERMINATE!!!!
EXTERMINATE!!!!
EXTERMINATE!!!!!!!!!
I honestly don't know who would win.* But, I love how you use them for all your semi-centennial covers. Genius!
*Although, I can easily imagine the conflict being secretly instigated by some world-class mad scientist-type. Luthor, Dr. Doom, Professor Ivo, etc. etc. etc.
NoMan from the Thunder Agents would be a good addition to this team.
Wasn't this a MetLife Insurance commercial on TV about ten years ago?
The Numbering is actually just a coincidence. I post a team cover every 40 issues, so they will always be a multiple of 10. Next one will be issue 2490.
K-9 can definitely take R2D2, and the Vision is the most powerful individual on this cover, so I'd say the newcomers have the edge. Doesn't mean it's a sure thing, though. (The "I am not a robot" check seems particularly ironic in this case, though.)
"Doom Patrol" Robotman would fit right in. But you should allow robots to comment on this cover.
Robotman has a human brain so he is disqualified
What would Rosemary (Rosie the Robot) Jetson from 2017's The Jetsons count as?
@ my namesake: a token representative of the Me Too Movement, perhaps?
On a lighter note: I'd like to suggest a similar mistaken identity slugfest.
Transformers vs. Gobots!
And now for a completely ridiculous idea: Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz vs Ultron
Or TIn Man joins the Metal Men.
BASED On Actual (fictional) Abilities AA) Pnueman (ABC) Vs Anybody (on the cover) Pnueman Loses AB) Any of them VS The Vision (Marvel) The Vision Wins 1)Skeets (DC) VS K-9 (BBC) Skeets wins 1A) Skeets Vs The Human Robot (Atlas) Draw. 1B) Skeets Vs Data (Paramount) Data wins by a slim chance 2)Artoo Detoo (/Marvel/STAR/Dark Horse/PaperCutz/IDW) VS Data (Dances With The Hollywood Stars Fight Artoo Detoo Wins greater name recognition) Data wins 2B) Artoo VS The Human Robot Nobody Wins 2C) R2D2 VS K-9 R2D2 wins. Pnueman & K-9 are the weakest links, especially Pnueman, Pnueman is a Valet/Butler not a fighter. Then again Author's preference always affects the outcomes, like the blind hatred aimed toward Scrappy Doo.
Lore? Cor crikey.
I rather see the second team as being led by some government agency, and said agency wants to be in control of all robot teams. By the end of the story, this new team determines that the universe is better off with an independent band of robot heroes, and convinces their superiors of that. In other words, everyone comes out on top (except, of course, for whatever bad guys they come out battling).
In the end, Red Tornado and K-9 might even trade places, based on their respective histories. (I don't know enough about Atomic Robo, Pneuman, or The Human Robot to figure whether they'd be inclined to do likewise.)
The second team really needs a name, though. I'd suggest the Mech Authority.
And I'd really like for either team to have an adventure with the Metal Men. Because, well, Metal Men.
The League of Super Evil(TV Series) VS The Mighty Heroes (TV Series).
And the winner is challenged by the REAL Robo Force led by Maxx Steele.
Also, K-9! YAY!
On a half-serious, and slightly more somber, note; once again, Google has given the shaft to Marvel Comics. On what would've been Stan Lee's 96th birthday, they did not even so much as fashion the two O's into a doodle of his eyeglasses!
Anon2: I don't know about MetLife, but there was a multi-robot General Electric commercial around that time with Data in it (Journey aka Robots on the Move).
That's the one! Thanks, Jay. :-)
How about adding a Daelek from Doctor Who? In the mix as well as the the Iron Giant
Anomynom you do realize the Daleks are biological entities in protective individual metal tanks? Well if you din't (As i in "No she din't!") now you done does (as in Knowing Is Half The Battle).
How about Daleks vs. The Borg...with the Metal Men caught in the middle?
"Ex-term-in-ate! Ex-term-in-ate!"
"Extermination-is-irrelevant. You-will-be-assimilated!"
@ Cary Comic - Throw in the Cybermen and Tharok of the Fatal Five and you're on! All hostile elements will be deleted!
Cover of the month!
Best cover of 2018, too! :-)
Before Roboforce, there was a bad group of AI villains who called themselves *Heavy Metal. Their leader was the Super Adaptoid. Machine Man was a part of that unit along with Sentry 459, TESS-One, Dragon Man, and Awesome Android.
In this cover sequence... "Machine Man betrayed his first team, and they haven't forgotten! Now the new Heavy Metal squad want him back, or DEAD!"
*see Avengers v1 289
Who would be the leader of the New Heavy Metal; Quasimodo?*
*Quasi-Motivational Destruct Organ (invented by the "Mad" Thinker).
Why not the same leader, Super Adaptoid. However, if there were a replacement at lead, try Amazo.
