Red Sonja and Warlord

Red Sonja is one of those characters whose names I mispronounced for way too long, always reading it in my mind with a hard "J".  I have to admit I also got the names of two of my all-time favorite artists wrong for many years - George Perez and Jim Aparo, I had been putting the accent on the wrong syllable for each of them. I'm still trying to figure out how to correctly say the name of the Flash 90's villain Kilg%re.

Indeed, sir!

Red Sonja, being from paleo-historic times (before recorded history(?)), maybe could be paired up with the Flintstones ,who might call her Red Stone-ja.LOLXD!

Okay, now you've intrigued me. I've always pronounced it a-PAIR-o. How have you pronounced it?

I said APP-aro for years until I learned it was a-Parr-oh.

I would like to see a Wonder Woman - Fly Girl team up. Their customs contrast and their powers compliment. I think it would be great.

hey Ross i love the title pun...
the art is cool as always..
you must get tired of always hearing the same thing all the time....
and now a Christmas cover suggestion in the form of a riddle...
an assortment of characters steal a TARDIS for there Christmas journey... they are Rocket J. squirrel, Wiley E. Coyote, Tony the Tiger and the Frankenstein creatue...
what is the connection???
(sorry i can not even offer the first correct answer a coveted no-prize...)

I think it was intended to be "Kill-guy-er" (vague memory from an issue of Flash maybe), but they called him "Kill gore" on The Flash, IIRC.

They clearly had the same armorer. :)

Personally I'm just as pleased as punch to see Warlord on this blog again. I'd like to see him in some less-likely pairings, though, such as the Guardians of the Galaxy, Han Solo, or the gang from Dinosaurs & Cadillacs.

Oh, and I too love the pun in the title on this one, Ross. It's one that I've actually used in a script (one which may yet appear in production in the not-too-distant future).

Wouldn't Red Sonja just disintegrate in Skartaris' eternal sunshine (seeing as she now a vampiress in the DEU)?

Do a cover of Galokka Saving the YoodlesGuest Starring Wave Rider.

Or, better yet: Lorne Green, Richard Hatch, and Dirk Benedict confabbing with the Silver Surfer's ex-boss. You could call it...

"Galactica Meets Galactus!"

Where's Spider-Man?

Well, at least with Warlord we have a male character whose "armor" is just as silly as Red Sonja's.

@Scott Cummins: I'm sure he's hanging around, somewhere.

Last season on the Flash they pronounced it Kill-gore.

Jackel, any clues?

Carycomic said...

@Jack-El: the first is from Frostbite Falls. The 2nd is always taking pratfalls. The 3rd is spokes-animal for Frosted Flakes. And the 4th was the downfall of a flaky scientist!

@Kid Charlemagne: That's COSTUMES for you!

@Carycomic: sounds like Jackel owes you a maybe-prize.

jackel said...

you have earned a "Nice Try But No Prize"...
all of these things have a common connection which is a Christmas classic....
and in your attempt you faied to incorporate the TARDIS...
any more attempts anyone...
anyone at all...

jackel said...

Rocky...
Tony...
Wiley...
Frankenstein's creature...
TARDIS...
i guess i can add just one more but it is very obscure...
here goes....
Professor Benjamin Shorofsky from TVs "Fame"...
when you put them together the right way it will all fit and will all make sense...

Jackel, Maybe there is more than one answer. The one you are thinking about and the FF answer. Cary pointed out Frostbite Falls and Frosty Flakes. For Wile E Coyote there is Friz Frelang. And Frankenstein's monster was famously played by boris karloFF. No idea about the TARDIS.

Frosty the snowman?

Ben Jackson and Susan (the 1st Doctor's granddaughter) from DOCTOR WHO:TOS! They have the same first names as half of the Fantastic Four.

Bigby65 said...

No she isn't? Where did you get that idea?

Carycomic said...

From my Doctor Who reference book covering the first seven of them.

well it has now been a week and no one else has offered any other attempts to the Christmas riddle which i proposed, so with out further ado...
the classic Christmas cartoon "How the Grinch stole Christmas".....
the clues....
Prof. Benjamin Shorofsky from TV's "Fame" was played by Albert Hague who composed the entire soundtrack...
Wyley E. Coyote (and Roadrunner) cartoons were directed by Chuck Jones who also directed the Grinch cartoon...
Rocket J. Squirrel was voiced by the same person who voiced Cindy Lou Who. That would be June Foray...
The Frankenstien creature was most famously played by Boris Karloff who served as both the narrator and the Grinch himself...
Tony the Tiger was voiced by Thurl Ravenscroft who sang the song "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch"....
oh, and all the Doctor Who doctors lived in the TARDIS so it would be Whoville the home of all the Whos....
