Animal Man, Man-Thing and Concrete

I like all of these guys for their offbeat natures - Concrete would prefer to be a pacifist despite his powerful new body, Animal Man is conflicted by the very nature of his being a fictional character, and Man-Thing's silent nature always makes his motives tough to figure out.  It might be fun to have them thrown together to face a common enemy.

Brilliant! As a science teacher, I appreciate how much this matters.

Sorry.

Ross- you never fail to impress. There may not be my favorite characters, but I want to read this comic!

The hand doesn't look like Edward Nigma, but I suspect the real villain is the Riddler. After all, Animal, Vegetable, Mineral is another name for the game Twenty Questions.

Not bad! But, I always preferred Silver Age Animal Man to New Age Animal Man. That Fourth Wall-breaking stuff keeps making me think of Ben Stein uttering the mantra: "Anyone seen Bueller? Bueller? Anyone?"

So, are the three of them going to fight the old Doom Patrol villain, the Animal-Vegetable-Mineral Man?

I agree, the DP villain, A-V-M Man, is clearly the right opponent!

ROSS The very model of a Modern Major General!

Maybe A-V-M Man, being manipulated by the Riddler? (Throw in some mystical Marvel baddie too, for good measure.)

Ross, I've never read Man-Thing, only know of Concrete through this blog, and lost track of Animal Man before COIE (so I was unaware of his breaking the Fourth Wall before now). Still, I'd find this comic very interesting to read.

This is a big part of why I think that Marvel and DC should get together to publish this kind of title for real, with occasional licensing from other franchises. These sorts of odd combinations of C-List heroes can help stir up interest in those characters. One can also get similar benefits by featuring an A- or B-List hero with a D-Lister from another company. The stories could be part of the companies' canon (probably by using Access as a focal part of the series) or not, as they prefer.

Speaking of Access, I think it'd be interesting to see him and Jenny Everywhere together -- possibly in #2500, where they've gathered a collection of heroes from all over to combat the threat that Luthor alluded to a few days ago. (I bring it up now so you have plenty of lead time to let that collection include the Justice League, the Avengers, the Honor Guard, the Power Rangers, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the Tick, et al.

A couple of other ideas, just for giggles, both of them just bringing back old suggestions: The Inferior Five versus Galactus, or Captain Klutz versus Godzilla.

I'll see you at the Nexus of All Realities. Speaking of Nexus, a Nexus & Electra meeting would be interesting.

I'll say that blue-glowing hand belongs to Crusher "The Absorbing Man" Creel (who probably absorbed Blue Shield's power beforehand).

Not to be confused with Concrete's other trio or fun with Flatman and Edward Scissorhands. Rock/Paper/Scissor

Flatman? Is that really a character? I just remember the old joke about the Dynamic Duo and the steamroller (punch line, Flatman and Ribbon).

A previous suggestion on this blog would have Sargeant Rock rather than Concrete in that trio.

yes! that’s what i want to know!

@Anonymous: Yeah, he's for real. He's one of the Great Lakes Avengers. Alongside Big Bertha, Mr. Immortal, Dyna-Soar, and Doorman (a living conduit to the Darkforce Dimension a la Cloak, Shroud, etc.).

Animal-Vegetable-Mineral Man from Doom Patrol is ideal foe. They should team up with the Patrol against him.

There's a song from the 60's called Concrete and Clay... which would be a good theme song if Concrete ever meets Clayface :p

I'd rather have Doc Doom using his Ovoid transmigration to take control of the Absorbing Man. So that he can grab some of the Man-Thing's muck and thereby gain access to some of the energies from the Nexus of All Realities!*

*It would be just like Von Doom to try such an elaborate ploy with regard to getting his mother back from Mephisto's dimension.
