Sgt. Rock and The Hulk

Joe Kubert, in my opinion, its the best comic book artist that ever lived.  If all he ever did was illustrate comics, he would earn that title from me, but he did so much more.  Through the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art, he shared his vast knowledge with a whole new generation of creators.  Pros such as Amanda Conner, Lee Weeks and Alex Maleev, among many others,  honed their crafts there. And of course there's his sons who are amazing illustrators themselves,  Andy Kubert and Adam Kubert.  I was glad to get the opportunity to combine the work of father and son for this cover.

The cool thing about comics: I can appreciate the cover without having to worry about, "Hey! Waitaminute! Sgt. Rock was WWII - how did The Hulk get back to WWII?" - it's comics! :D

awesome cover!

And his granddaughter has a new series coming out in October. (I'll need to look up my info and post the series title later.)

Probably another one of Kang's projects: he's already sent the Hulk back to WWI (planning that this would prevent an action that would have saved the life of one of Bruce Banner's ancestors, thus paradoxically preventing the origin of the Hulk, thus averting the formation of the Avengers, thus making Kang's acts in the later 20th century easier...) at least once, after all.

I'm loving the word play in the title.

And now, from the Department of Same Actor, Different Role: The (Tenth) Doctor versus the Purple Man. (Possibly throwing in Barty Crouch, Jr. for good measure.)

Bob, I agree. Great pun!

Ross, any chance of an all Sy Barry cover? The Phantom (obviously) and Phantom Stranger, Captain Comet or Adam Strange?

Nice to see Old Jade Jaws survived being run over by the Haunted Tank.

@AirDave: Hulk first became stranded in this time period back in STF #2222. How he got there? Most likely discourtesy of either Per Degaton or the Tomorrow Man. Why? Perhaps to prevent the post-war formation of Task Force X via the smashing of its founder. Captain X of the RAF!*

*I like to think that, in the STF Universe, "X-Protocol" was the task force's original name.

Thank you, Anon. For some reason, my terminal won't let me establish links, here.

You can't just type in www.etc.etc. You need to type in html code for the link and it will be converted to a link when you publish it. It's actually quite easy. See http://bloggeruniversity.blogspot.com/2007/01/post-link-in-comments.html for instructions

Or if I follow those instructions, http://bloggeruniversity.blogspot.com/2007/01/post-link-in-comments.html

Thanks, but no thanks. I'll stick with just giving DYI directions to previous covers.

How about Evil Ernie vs. Thanos (over the hand of Lady Death)?
