Adam Strange and The Micronauts

With the success (financially if not critically) of the Transformers movies, I am surprised that there has never been an attempt to bring The Micronauts to the big or small screen.  I have always loved the character designs and the property certainly has enough nostalgia value to interest potential viewers. A decent adaptation could get the toys back on the shelves, too.

Is there a connection between Arcturus Rann and the planet Rann?

Perhaps the crimson crusaders of Fawcett can teamup with with Sandman and Sandy!

Earth-Two, aren't they all technically DC characters now? Not much of a crossover really, or at least not one that fits the spirit of this blog

Also, I seem to recall hearing talks of making a Hasbro Shared Universe series of movies with Micronauts and Rom mentioned as possibilities, though I haven't heard much on it recently

IIRC, the Micronauts toy line was considered a major bust because they never had a TV show or cartoon to drive sales. The silver lining was that Marvel had complete control of the storyline and Bill Mantlo ran with it, not having to writing it down to kiddie levels, and being able to bring in non-toy characters and link it firmly into the Marvel Universe.

According to Wikipedia, there have been some attempts to make both a cartoon and film versions that are still alive in theory, but with nothing to show for them yet.

I think that visually, Adam Strange fits in very well with the Micronauts. I've always been a big fan of his 50s "spaceman" look.

You can do a follow set on the planet Rann where you address the connection between the name of the planet and Arcturus Rann.

There are probably a whole slough of reasons Hollywood would gladly use as a technicality for _not_ doing a Micronauts adaptation.

Probable excuse no. 1: "Giant robots are more visually appealing, right now. Look how well the 'Pacific Rim' sequel did! And the next 'Godzilla' remake will most likely include one as well."

Probable excuse no. 2: "Nah! We'd lose too much money trying to gear it for the under-25 crowd. They'd most likely mistake it for a STAR WARS rip-off the same way they did 'John Carter of Mars!' "

Probable excuse no. 3: "Shrunken superheroes? You mean, like the Ant-Man and the Wasp? Forget it! Too many movie-goers thought it was an anti-climax to the 'Infinity War' flick."

I doubt they'll go with Alibi #3. As of today, A-M & W has earned almost half a billion dollars worldwide!

How about next time you have a Sword of The Atom Micronauts crossover? I really dug Sword of The Atom & The Micronauts B-I-D.

Sidenote: How is it that Adam Strange never had his own Motion Picture?

Back in the early 90's there was an attempt to make an animated series and tv series based on Marvel's Micronauts series. If the old Comics Buyer's Guide Weekly has been digitized then you can find the story. You can google the toys that were show at the New York Toy Fair in the mid 2000's. Right now Hasbro wants to make movies of it shared universe (Rom, MASK, Transformers, GI Joe and Micronauts) but the failure of the shared comics universe has put movies of Rom, MASK and the Micronauts either or hold or dead.

Brother: I don't know about a team-up, but I can see a click-bait list of "How many character can you name by their helmets?" Along with Fate and Nova you could have Adam Strange, Golden and Silver Age Hawkman, Thor, the Barry Windsor-Smith Conan, a Storm Trooper, the Golden Age Red Tornado (or Forbush Man, I think they used the same sauce pan), etc.

Brother Kellymatthew Barnes -- a Planet of the Apes/Alien Nation crossover actually happened for real.

What really makes this idea so great is how extremely feasible it is to happening if the big two were more friendly to each other these days instead of seeing who can out-reboot and relaunch who.

Adam Strange in the Microverse just makes sense.
Quick dumb question, but has The Atom (Ray Palmer) already explored the Microverse here? I'm sure he has.

Yes Dale, The Atom and Miocronauts have met twice on the blog.
