Dynomutt and Robotman

DC has had some fun teaming their heroes up with the stars of Hanna-Barbera, so maybe we will see something close to this one day.  I understand that the Doom Patrol will be featured on DC's upcoming streaming  channel Titans show.  I hope they do a live action Cliff Steele justice.  So far the I have seen costumes that look great (Robin, Hawk and Dove), and some that I am not impressed with (Starfire, Raven, Beast Boy), so I'll keep my fingers crossed the DP is represented well.

Ha-ha! Cool cover. Have the Hanna-Barbera/DC team-ups been all-ages or were they bringing the classic cartoon characters into the DCU? I really enjoy the wackiness of the Looney Tunes and the cartoons. That's what this cover looks like. I'd love to see that in a team-up.

I really enjoyed the Titans-Doom Patrol follow up in the early issues of New Teen Titans. Nice to see the Doom Patrol get their justice.

AirDave: Most of the team-up one-shots (Batman and Elmer Fudd, Wonder Woman and Tasmanian Devil, et. al.) were a little of both. The lead story had fairly realistic versions of the HB characters in the DCU (although probably not "in canon"). Then there was a "animated" backup story with a Looney Tune version of the hero on the HB character's turf.

...hey Ross this is a fun cover which would have been more so if you had included Robotman's own pet pooch from the comic book series Robbie the Robot Dog....

Have to nitpick here Jay but Taz, Elmer, and the Looney Tunes aren't HB. Space Ghost, Jonny Quest, Scooby-Doo, and Flintstones and the rest are Hanna Barbera. The recent DC incarnations have been a bit more mature but the ones I've read aren't too inappropriate for kids.

Holding out hope DC will do a Kamandi/Adventure Time crossover though Cartoon Network is a whole other animal :D

Jackel, you are thinking of the Golden Age Robotman - he had the dog, not Cliff Steele.

The treatment that the Doom Patrol got the first time around on "Teen Titans" was pretty fair (although Steve Dayton was a real jerk... no, wait, that WAS in character.) I missed the Chief though.

Technically, Warner Brothers and Hanna-Barbera are two separate animation divisions, and I'm not expecting to ever see Jonny Quest and Tasmanian Devil together. But Warner bought the Hanna-Barbera properties a while back... that's part of how we got "Future Quest." WB owns Daffy Duck, Green Lantern, and Space Ghost all - even though we'll never see them in one property together, I think.

You are correct, sir...
...we could also have included the Doctor's (Who) K-9...
or Sniffer from Gil Kane's Star Hawks comic strip...
or the Vision's robot puppy Sparky to name just a few others...

@Mike Shirley: Future Quest and its tie-ins aren't too rough for kids. OTOH, Exit Stage Left: The Snagglepuss Chronicles is. Or at least, it probably holds no attraction for today's kids, steeped as it is in late Fifties-early Sixties lore. For example, Snagglepuss finds himself embroiled in the Marilyn Monroe-Joe Di Maggio-Arthur Miller triangle (although only first names are used). The latest issue, #5, has Nikitia Krushchev saying, "Americans are ruled by casino. Sooner or later they'll elect a real amateur as President, and THEN we'll press our advantage!"

Gee, I wonder who he could mean...

No explanation is given for realistic funny animals -- and Squiddly Diddly, in particular, is a jolt -- but fans seem to be accepting them as an addition to, rather than a supplanting of, the originals. Again, in the last two issues of ESL [SPOILER ALERT] Huckleberry Hound and Quick Draw McGraw become gay lovers, and then one of them kills himself. This has prompted no fan reaction, which only seems strange if you remember what happened with the Rawhide Kid.

Speaking purely for myself? I would have preferred DM and BF teaming up with the Golden Age Robotman. But, aside from that nitpick? Muchos kudos on the flawless cutting and pasting (or whatever editing process you use). Bravo!

Mike Shirley: you are right, of course. Looney Tunes and H/B are separate universes (so far). I recently read the TPBs of both Future Quest and the Looney Tunes teamups (god bless Hoopla and the Las Vegas Library District) and got confused (darn Senior Moments!)

Only a few weeks until Dynomutt has his first DCU team up special:

P.S. @ ELS: Hey! Who would've ever thought that WB would have an actual crossover with Archie/Filmation on Saturday morning television? But, that's exactly what happened back in the Seventies!
